Maybe, by your own argument, the greatest album produced in 1987, but of all time...naah.

GNR wasn’t a hair band IMO.
I would put Appetite way up there. WTTJ was the fastest song that I had ever heard at that young age.

The release of Van Halen was a remarkable snapshot in time
Nothing had ever sounded like it and the first time I heard "Ain't Talking About Love" I was blown away.

Definitely not.

It's a hair band, so it's automatically disqualified from the conversation.
Absolutely not. Hair bands were very formulaic in terms of both look and music subject matter. Everyone knows the look, and everyone is familiar with the ballads and party rock songs. Listen to bands like Warrant and Poison. Those are true hair bands. Now listen to AFD, there is no have a good time party rock on that album. It’s sleezy and dirty from the beginning to the end. As far as looks go, they looked nothing like any band at the time either. They were tattooed long before it was mainstream, even in music.

If anything, GnR looked to start a new "sleaze" rock genre, but ended up being the bridge between hair metal and grunge at the end of the day, similar to what Def Leppard did to bridge NWOBHM and hair metal - largely because they were so influential on the hair metal bands.
GnR's songs were largely darker, lyrically, and crunchier than most hair metal bands were doing. They were doing a little spandex and hairspray at first, but quickly adopted a more relaxed look we would associate with either 70s or 90s rock acts, not those from the 80s.

The Back in Black love is out of control
It's not even a top 3 AC/DC record
Everything with Bon is better

And Motley Crue was an overall better band than GNR.

GRN had 1 good album
Motley Crue has multiple bad arse albums, a better front man, a better drummer and a better bass player.

Better bass player, really? That's not really Crue's stong player.
Not that Duff is all that, but the classic lineup of GnR with Izzy and Adler was solid, plus they had the songs. Subjectively, I agree that Vince was probably a better overall singer, but Axl was a damned fine lyricist so that evens out. Axl was notorious about stiffing the fans, but that's a different discussion for a different time.
Mick and Tommy make Crue a great band. Are Mick and Tommy "better" than Slash and Adler? Probably, but not head and shoulders better, I wouldn't think, particularly not Mick vs Slash.
I liked Use Your Illusion, but I tend to agree with the assertion that GnR had 1 "great" album and leave it at that.

Bass player was good enough that they didnt need a rhythm.
I actually think Axl had better range than Vince but neither are in Robert Plant's category.

Oasis’ first 2 albums kick everybody into touch. Even the Beatles.

Appetite is a great album, but I still can't stand Axels whiney singing ( whi E ..I E I ein......), and the stupid intro from Sweet child of mine sounds like a calliope played by a kindergartener.
Highway to Hell
Van Halen 1
Physical Graffiti
Wish you were here
Number of the Beast
Plenty of better records out there.
