Shock The Monkey? If not that one, Sledgehammer has to be in the top 10 videos with the most plays on Mtv. They wore that, Got My Mind Set On You, and Money For Nothing out...all at around the same time, from what I can remember.

The one that stands out most to me was "Cradle of Love" by Billy idol.
But I remember seeing Madonna, billy Joel, culture club and whatnot

No way for me because I was already into music vids prior to our cable system adding MTV. So, there's no telling what was on when I finally switched to the channel.

Don’t really remember the first one I saw on MTV. The first music video I remember seeing was Poncho and Lefty on CMT. Had Willie Nelson, Merrill Haggard and Townes Van Zandt in it.

The first video I remember seeing was Night Ranger - Don't Tell Me You Love Me.

Night Flight was the 80s. The Beatles started the video trend when they decided to stop touring.
Videos may have popped up on shows like The Midnight Special from time to time. But there is no denying that the Mtv launch changed the game and put the term "music video" on the map.

At a friend's house, very early in the beginning. I think it was Hotel California live.

Your still wrong, no matter where you stand.

Looks like Bohemian Rhapsody is credited as the first, and that was in 1975. I wonder which programs it aired on?
ETA: Black Sabbath had a full-on produced video for Paranoid in 1970. Again, which program would that have been for?

It seems like it was in The Beatles:Anthology documentary where they mentioned that they started filming videos to avoid touring and appearing on TV shows. I'm pretty sure that the first music video would have aired on Ed Sullivan. But that's just a guess.
Technically, I've seen music videos in old movies from the 40s. There's a scene in a 1946 movie called Junior Prom that has some high school kids watching a video on some sort of massive, video jukebox.
Not sure what it was. But it was shocking to see something like that in a movie that predates television.
