Where can I go to listen/dance to some genuine swamp pop music? And what would your top 5 swamp pop classics be?

I find it to be a little murky.

Rhino records did a Swamp POP CD series about 20 years ago—not bad.
I haven’t listened to it in a while—I may go dig it up!

I listen to it fairly often. But aside from listening to KBON or setting up a streaming playlist, I have no idea where you'd go to listen live and dance other than local festivals. Wayne Toups is playing a county fair almost every weekend if you look around.

Reach out to Herman Fuselier via email. Great guy who is a wealth of knowledge for local music in the Acadiana area. Todd Mouton is an author and promoter of Swamp Pop, Zydeco, and Cajun music. Herman will have Todd’s email and contact info.

I remember back in 1971, when I wore a younger man's clothes, WLCS in Baton Rouge had an afternoon program called "South Louisiana Gold", dedicated to swamp pop recordings from the 50s and 60s. It was AWESOME!

Something you may be interested in. Every year the Paragon Casino in Marksville has a Legends of Swamp Pop concert. This years it’s on May 12, and tickets are $15. Sadly when these guys quit performing and pass, the genre of “swamp pop” will only be a memory.

Besides, your link goes way overboard on the strings. This is the best version.

Literally any place in Ascension Parish, any night of the week. Not even like bars, literally any standing structure. Even the car ports and met trailers play "Tilda" on repeat.

Would the Boogie Kings be considered Swamp Pop?

There's a brand new swamp pop radio station in St Mary parish- 92.9. Decent range as I've heard it from Raceland to almost New Iberia.

I don't know if I am up on exactly what Swamp Pop is, so if these are wrong, I am sincerely sorry,

It's a combination of classic country and motown played by coonasses around Ascension Parish. It's a lot of horns. Here's some examples:
Tee Nah Nah - Foret Tradition
Take Me In Your Loving Arms - Foret Tradition
The Girl I Love To Hold - Wade Bernard
Red Red Wine - Van Broussard
