Would the Boogie Kings be considered Swamp Pop?

Absolutely! Clint West played with the original Boogie Kings and listen to his version of Another Saturday Night.
Really great, along with Big Blue Diamonds.

Anybody remember a radio show hosted by John Fred on (IIRC) the BRH station in the early 2000s?

Mathilda is a great song. Can't see how someone could dislike it.

Yeah but I'd rather eat my fricking trumpet than ever play Mathilda on it again.

What have you been playing on that trumpet lately? How are the girls these days?

If you're asking if I've ever covered the Alligator Man, the answer is no.

Honestly not much. I have it set up in the bedroom and will pick it up every once in a while, realize I suck and put it back down.

Girls are great, growing like weeds. Thanks for asking.

Boogie Kings are technically Blue Eyed Soul but they are one of the greatest bands to ever come from Louisiana. The singers that have led that band have been incredible. Clint West, GG Shin, Jerry LaCroix and Duane Yates all had world class voices. Not to mention Jon Smith is an incredible sax player

As far as Swamp Pop staples:
Rod Bernard - This should go on forever/Colinda
Cookie and the Cupcakes - Mathilda/Breaking Up is hard to do
Dale and Grace - I’m leaving it up to you/Stop and think it over
Warren Storm - Lord I need somebody bad tonight/Just a moment of your time
Clint West - Blue Diamonds
Joe Barry - Fool to care/Just because
Johnnie Allen - Lonely day/sYour picture
Lil Bob and Lollipops- I got loaded
Clarence Frogman Henry - Ain’t got no home/But I do
Lloyd Price - Lawdy Mrs Clawdy/Stagger Lee
Van Broussard - Red Wine/ My Ting-a-ling
Tommy McClain - Sweet Dreams/Before I grow too old

For more recent stuff definitely check out Don Rich and Ryan Foret and Foret Tradition

I listen to a lot of Swamp Pop, lol

Literally any place in Ascension Parish, any night of the week. Not even like bars, literally any standing structure. Even the car ports and met trailers play "Tilda" on repeat.

The Jambalaya Fest usually brings out all the Swamp Pop All-Stars on sunday evenings.

I’ve never been to an AP wedding and not heard the Freeze. Or Mustang Sally. Or These Arms of Mine. And I’ve been to 100s.
