Anyone invested in this group? Stumbled onto these guys about a week ago and I'm digging it. All of it. I can play "am I going up" on a loop and never tire, among others...

Or is it really just me? Either way, bout to have me a headphone and bourbon party.

Definitely not. there’s actually a pretty solid group of people here that dig ATW. I do for sure. There’s a pretty large thread here that hasn’t resurfaced in a while about stoner, doom, bluesy metal. They’re one of the more prominent bands discussed throughout it.

This board turned me into them. Great act. Saw them live at One Eyed Jacks, GasaGasa, and Voodoo a few times.

If you can catch them at a small club, it’s worth the price of admission.

Best current rock band out there. Our Mother Electricity is probably my favorite album of the last 10 years.

Page 1, got it. I did do a search, albeit a lazy search. I try not to throw names out finding there was a 33 page thread yet, there it is. Must be the stoner rock, huh...

Thanks for the link. Gotta be another dozen favorites in there I have not yet found. I'll have fun with it!

I was at the Gasa Gasa show. Really good stuff.

I have a few LPs I should make of point of getting back into rotation.

Same here. This board for me. I saw them as well at a very small venue. The EARL in Atlanta. Amazing.

Would’ve been a very tough search. Not even sure how you would know what best to search to come across that theead.

Saw them at one eyed jacks and they blew me away. This was right after they fired the keyboard player.

Saw them there plus at Gasa Gasa and Voodoo. They're super chill when not playing, as one might expect. Chatted and got a picture with Parks after a Toyota Music Den mini-set at Voodoo, as we both happened to be wearing Philmont Scout Ranch shirts (CSB). Also saw Parks on Freret before the Gasa Gasa show, and Ben McLeod outside One Eyed Jacks before that show.

Would be great to see the Halloween show at the Ryman. Parks spent some time in Louisiana growing up and hopefully they make it down again soon.

Musically I like how the songs tie together, while each album has a different vibe. The last 4 songs on Dying Surfer Meets His Maker are like one long song that takes you on a ride, especially Talisman and Blood and Sand/Milk and Endless Waters.

ETA: Parks offstage at Voodoo

Really really taking a liking to sleeping through the war. It has a blues undertone that I am drawn to, but really, their entire catalog is exactly one treat after another. They are technically advanced for a slower tempo and I was surprised to learn they are only 4 dudes who can consistently fill the sounds of 6. Songs are very well arranged. The guitar player is phenomenal, but my highpoint is reached with the harmonica. That harp sound is haunting, lethal and can proudly carry any tune to new depths. My first thought when that harp ripped in on "Internet" was that it was a sound that can turn screws. Brilliant. Helps that they too are pretty good story tellers. They deal with some topics you wish they could make a movie about. Coyote women for example.

Very fulfilling discovery and I really look forward to enjoying more. I have yet to hear a song that is a throw away although I still, do not have a favorite. I like that in a band. Unpredictable is another asset I enjoy.

Surprised to learn they will be in town in January, a club tour. So seeing them in an intimate setting will be a lot of fun. These guys made my week. Thanks for confirming.
