I get we're comparing trios, but this is apples to oranges, IMHO. Singing is hella subjective, but even giving the Police a push (or even a slight edge) in singing and a push in guitars (Summers and Lifeson are both criminally underrated guitar players, again, IMHO), Rush blows them away with virtuosos on 3 instruments, drums, bass and keys.
However much I like Stewart Copeland as a drummer, composer or all around musician, Peart is a GOAT candidate and for many, the unquestioned GOAT rock drummer. And compared to Lee, Sting can barely even play bass.

I wasn't really going for the overall comparison of who is better. More of a respect thing. That song is influenced by the Police and has a lot in common with Police songs of that time (go listen to Ghost In The Machine). Rush wrote and performed an incredible song and I am sure if the Police heard it and were honest, they would say they wish they had written that one.

Hackett considered it their best ever. I'm not sure I can go that far but it was incredible.

I've said it before, but at times this is my favorite album of all time. There is not one, single track that even approaches being weak, imo.

I saw them for the first time in Mountain View, CA, Shoreline Ampitheatre for a little one day festival called BFD. The first song they played was "Untitled". It blew me away. I was a fan for life after that 4 minute song.
