I'll never grow out of Railroad Earth (listening to Seven Story Mountain as we speak). Those guys make great music. Plain and simple. Same goes with the likes of Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, New Grass Revival, etc.
I've been off the WSP stuff for a while now. I don't dislike them, I just have moved passed it and that "scene". I'm not even sure I was ever into the "jam band" scene. I was more of a Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Whiskeytown, etc. type. I'll still listen to a few Widespread songs few songs here and there (on a road trip or something) and remember some good times, but I don't actively listen to them much anymore.

Fair enough. I went to a Widespread Panic show in Biloxi a few years ago and remember being depressed leaving the show. I was looking around at all of their fans and I remember just feeling sorry for them. They looked tired and strung out. Cool your jets mon. I like pot as much as the next guy but if you ever have to quit smokin regularly for a job or something this music will lose a ton of it's appeal. I'll still listen to it every now and then, but there's no way I'm sitting through an entire 20 min version of divided sky now.

Disagree. Obviously marijuana use is very common in the scene but it definitely isn't required.

My friend who isn't into music at all is fascinated by the thought of the Phellowship. I don't know why but he thinks it is the funniest thing ever.

I don't smoke pot anymore and I'm listening to Driving Song > Hatfield with a Born on the bayou/riders on the storm rap > Driving Song as we speak that's about 20 minutes long
