A tale as old as time. My kids music is sooo bad!!

17 year old boy. Listens to a good smattering of stuff. But when he leans into rap or hip/hop. Whatever it’s called now.
I believe I heard the stylings of “Little Tekka”. Absolute arse!! When your speaking voice needs to be autotuned you are steaming garbage. Malcolm Todd is trying to sing but heavily tuned I think.
My kid listens to a lot of what I call “Blemo” music. These at least sound like songs/structure.
Any of the Music Board folk have some favorites? And if so what is your age?
I get that he will go through phases. I had mine before Seattle and alternative took over and I just stayed in that lane.
I sort of feel bad for any kid listening to music now. I hear nothing that I can imagine them listening to proudly 25 years from now.

I don't understand how anyone that could listen to the stylings of Tony Bennett and then listen to today's music without knowing that the current offering is absolute dogshit.

Ah the classic my generation's music is the best ever and everything after it sucks. Nothing rose tinted glasses that ignores the shite music that has always existed.

I think it’s quantifiably bad now. The “artists” often can’t sing. Can’t speak. Don’t write lyrics, play instruments or even make their own “beats.” It is largely devoid of thought, art or creativity.
It struck me the other day listening to an 80s channel on streaming. Most songs pre-grunge were about love. (Or the broken heart of failed love) it didn't matter the genre or ethnicity.
Grunge tended to be about the disaffected teen or young adult experience, but it had something to say.
