Gotta new wife, gotta new life, and the family is fine...

The story that song tells is top 5 all time. Probably #1 or 2 depending on my mood that day. It’s just perfect. The tone of the music just matches the words perfectly.
My favorite verse:

Well, they got an apartment with deep pile carpets
And a couple of paintings from Sears
A big waterbed that they bought with the bread
They had saved for a couple of years
They started to fight when the money got tight
And they just didn't count on the tears

Always wondered what happened to Billy Joel in regards to his song writing.
At the end of the 70's one would have thought he would be a great song writer for the next 20 years with the success of The Stranger and 52 Street. Fast forward about 6 years and he was making crap songs like "We Didn't start the Fire" and Uptown Girl.

Literally just picked this album up at my record store today. 33% off used vinyl. So it was $6.70. Plus I've been on the lookout for good copy of The Stranger for a while.

Not a damn thing wrong with We didn’t start the fire.
River of dreams, too.

The Stranger and 52nd St. we're pretty decent albums.
After that... He became Neil Diamond.

Brinkley has been married four times, most notably between 1985–1994 to musician Billy Joel
That's what happened to his song writing.

Can you blame the man though? I’d still beat the brakes off her.

Good song but it pales to Captain Jack or The Entertainer.

Might be one of my top 5 songs.
Billy Joel is in the top 3 of American pop songwriters all-time.

At Jazz Fest a few years ago, after the line
"Drop a dime in the box play the
Song about New Orleans"
a brass band marched across the stage playing a Dixieland jazz interlude. A true "only in New Orleans" moment.

Saw him live at the peak of his popularity, right as 52nd Street was topping the charts. Great show.
Coincidentally, I was eating dinner with the wife at a nice bistro last night and "I Go To Extremes" comes on in the background and I find myself thinking, "That was a pretty good song for a guy who was at the end of his pop career."
But for my money, this was the best stuff he ever did:
