I'd rather listen to 2pac any day, although I respect Jay Z. Hate most of his commercial songs though.

I have a few responses for this thread:

2pac > Jay-z

Scarface is up there ranked next to both

If Biggie didn't die, most people wouldn't have known who the hell Jay-z is. Biggie ran the Brooklyn rap scene but when he was killed, New York needed someone to fill that void which was between Nas and Jay-z. Ultimately, Jay won.

I hate when people ask who was better between Pac and Biggie. That's like comparing apples to oranges. They have two different styles in which BIG is metaphorical and would have eaten Pac alive in a freestyle. Pac was more of a poet who wrote about real life issues ( before Suge brainwashed him into stupid arse beefs)

You could have offered a Tupac album that you think is better than Reasonable Doubt or Black Album.

Only "All Eyes on Me" and imo Don Killumanati the 7 day theory.
(I may be alone on this one) are better than Reasonable Doubt.

But....Pac has a number of albums better than The Black Album...

Good album...but overrated...

I respect Jay. One of the 10 best rappers of all time...

But its amazing that he just collected what was left after Pac and Biggie died...

Nas won the battle in the early 2000's....but Jay Z won the war. Goes to show you that people love a great businessman (who is also a great rapper), with a great wife and who is marketable..

If Biggie and Pac were alive? Biggie would have held down East Coast rap, maybe rap in general (I say that because)....

I could see Pac holding it down from a business standpoint. From movies, to productions, to other business ventures. I still favor Pac over Big because of personal preference. But I could see Biggie still putting out great albums. While Pac would rarely put out an album, but more so dominate financially.

Jay Z is getting the best of both worlds (honestly I dont think he's put out any *great* album's recently, but still)

So yes Jay Z is winning. He's had consistency for 17 years+....credit it to him.

I respect your answer although I don't agree. Like I said before, I just don't really care for any Pac albums as a whole. But that's just my opinion.

I agree that Pac should be in the conversation of best rappers but that doesn't mean he has to be everyone's favorite. I much prefer Biggie,Andre 3000,Q-Tip,Rakim,Big L,Rev Run, LL, etc.

I'm not saying Method Man is better than Pac but to laugh this much about it is ridiculous. The guy did make Tical, Blackout!(w/redman) and was part of Wu-Tang.

He's a well-respected rapper.

I like Method Man, i actually his music a lot. But here's the deal. Everybody in the world has pretty much decided that it's pac, biggie, nas, jay, maybe wayne, Eminem, there's a list of widely respected as the best in the game do to respect by other rappers and sales and no where will you find Method Man, I like Master P, Three Six, Do or Die, the list goes on and on of rappers i like better than the top few i just listed minus 2 pac, but that doesn't mean i come on a message board and try to act like any of those rappers i like are #2, even if in my mind i think they are. and then blast other posters b/c they post links of survey after survey of popular opinion. it's just stupid. If my bobbyray would just say hey i like these rappers better that's fine, but to try and act like he has decided method man is #2 b/c he knows something about rap is a joke.

I'm a fan of Meth and would pay money to see him live. Calling him the #2 rapper of all time is just a troll job.

And now I feel sorry for you. You are pathetic. Appealing to the authority of lists on the internet. Hahaha. If I ever did that, I would promptly kick my own arse. I mean, I would beat the shite out of myself.

You posted a list from the internet to justify your love for the 930 club. Trillhog was posting lists to justify a popular opinion. I don't see why you're getting so bent out of shape.

Who was the best Wu Tang rapper, in your opinion?

Have you ever heard of Raekwon?

GZA's Liquid Swords?

Meth is great, but come the frick on.

Make a top ten then.

I don't really take myself seriously enough to tell you all who the top 10 rappers ever are. I know who I like personally. I guess that would go something like this in no particular order:

Biggie
2Pac
Nas
GZA
MF Doom
Chali 2na
Mos Def
Jay Z
Kanye
Eminem
Big Boi, Andre
Raekwon

I think you caught a lot of flack when you arrogantly declared that 2Pac would be #499 on your list and then adding DMX. DMX doesn't deserve to sniff any sort of best of list. Really, neither does Method Man even though I very much enjoy his work.

Edit: I don't want to forget that you had fricking Lupe Fiasco in your top 10. The thought of that gives me a fricking migraine.

Didn't read the whole thread, but despite being a Platinum selling group, Black Thought has to be one of the most underrated lyricists in a while.
