Ading to that, one of them is "channeling everyone from Gang of Four and the Slits to Babes in Toyland and Bikini Kill" and I have never heard of any of them either.

The vast majority of it is ridiculous. In any era. You only remember the outliers that don't actually suck. There may even be someone on OP's list that doesn't suck, but I don't have the time or inclination to find out.
