I think maybe it is more about viewers hating that the show didn't hew to it's original promise of greatness. "What could have been". Like every season of Ray Donovan after they quit focusing on Ray Donovan doing Ray Donovan shite. Billions. Last season of GOT. Yellowstone SHOULD have been great.

I just finished the season... It was kind of everywhere. I felt they were more interested in pumping up Sheridan's horse skills.
I didn't feel like it had a main plot and the side plots were weak.
-Kayce's wolf deal was absolutely terrible, I was thinking WTF the whole time. Very boring and confusing with no real outcome.
-Within a few weeks, 6666 makes Jimmy a real cowboy when Yellowstone couldn't do it in 3 years? It was a feel good moment though. New chick was way hotter than the barrel racer.
-Lloyd and Walker beef went no where.
-They bring the kid in to build his confidence up the entire show to only have him brought back down in the last episode by the bitch.
-Beth's bitch attitude all the time can get old, who the frick acts like this 24/7?
I could go on, I think the season was a bust.

I just finished watching Deadwood after some of y’all had said it’s better than Yellowstone. Trixie > Beth Trixie would easily humble Beth.

It's been mentioned multiple times, but I think the problem with this season was Sheridan getting too distracted by other shows/projects. I just saw an article that says he has SEVEN new shows in the works. All Paramount+ projects.
