I’ve now watched the first two episodes. They are okay so far. I find that the acting is pretty bad most of the time, but it’s at least interesting enough that I’ll keep going. Gonna try to wait until I’m caught up to join the thread discussion though.
Are y’all still liking it now that there are (I think) 6 episodes that have aired?

She dies in the first two minutes of the show. The girl that falls on the spikes is wearing the necklace that Jackie gave to Shauna on the plane and then shauna gives back to jackie in this episode...so I think we can assume Jackie is dead (unless she gives the necklace away again).
The fact that they never explicitly show Jackie dying is why people are questioning whether it was really her. If they wanted viewers to know with 100% certainty it was Jackie, they would have showed her face.
Yes, they made sure viewers saw the necklace, but then they also had a whole scene where Jackie gave it to Shauna. Now Jackie has it back, but that doesn't mean she won't give it to someone else.
It seems we've got quite a bit of story to cover between where we are now and them eating a teammate, so I think it's quite possible that someone else has the necklace by then

i like the parts in the jungle a lot more than the adult scenes.

Then why have the brunch scene with her parents in latest episode if she isn’t dead? She gone.

I’ve been pretty hooked on it. Fist show my wife and I have both been entertained by in a while.
We’re watching this and Sopranos together currently (obviously sopranos is way better)

She may be, and I believe her parents and Adult Jeff think she's dead, but there could be a lot of intentional misdirection here. I wouldn't classify any of these women as "reliable narrators."

Her being cast as a junkie is so perfect.

I've been enjoying the show so far. Looking forward to when things really start to get crazy in the 1996 timeline.
Apparently the showrunners pitched the show as a 5 season idea. I really don't see how they could get that many seasons out of this show without it really dragging in some spots. Hope I'm wrong though.

This makes it sound woke, even if it isn't. What does they're being "wildly talented" have to do with anything?
Apologies if this has been addressed but I had to stop and immediately say something.
It amazes me how people will look for any reason to get upset about some “woke” bullshite.
The term used is “wildly talented.” Clearly, this team was very talented. They win state and went undefeated and were headed to Nationals. The term “wildly” is almost surely a play on words considering their circumstances after the plane crash. It’s a clever play on words, that’s all it has to be.

I thought the same, that it was overkill as well as the "alpha female" part, but now I think maybe it's to infer that they may or may not have some otherworldly talents going on.
Also, the way they want the viewer to think Jackie is dead just seems too easy. I could be wrong, but I personally think she is alive and the postcards were her out for revenge or something along those lines. Who knows at this point.

Or it just means the team is talented af at soccer

Season will probably end with the adult Jackie reveal.
I find the scenes with the adults really drag. It’s much better when it’s the kids.

When the husband when to bat for her it changed his character. Thought it was interesting

Yeah, but then he said some kind of backhanded stuff in the car afterwards. He said something like, "of course Jackie was going to breakup with me...I was only a high school boyfriend."
I took that to mean that at some point Jackie would outgrow him. So, if that's what he meant, it's a bit of an insult to Shauna that Jackie only saw him as a "high school boyfriend" whereas Shauna wound up marrying him and having at least one kid with him.
Plus, as soon as they get home, he runs off to meet his mistress
