Yellowjackets tells the narrative of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the survivors of a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while also tracking the lives they have attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later.

Looks like a Lord of the Flies type of show about to be released tonight, anyone checking this out?

Reviews are good.

Premise is interesting.

Michael Malice makes a compelling case that Lord of the Flies is a total bullshite concept and that a small group trying to survive would not turn into warring clans, but instead they would put all their differences aside and strip all the factors from modern society that cause division and arguments, and have a peaceful, harmonious small society.

He cites an actual case in the 20th century of a group of people that were stranded on an island for 2 years before being found, and when the rescuers got there, they did not find a cannibalistic animal society, but instead found a cohesive, functioning, smooth peaceful, harmonious group who all did their part to survive together.

He said he actually hates Lord of the Flies (and other stories based on the concept) because it implies that man is inherently evil, and that's just not the case when you filter out all the mind-controlling concepts of media and government and power that propogates modern civilisations.

Wasn’t expecting this take in here but that’s interesting as hell.

All stories based on these types of situations are based on man being evil at his core, which subjective but makes sense IMO.

This is great and all, but mankind got where it is today naturally. If we weren't inherently evil, wouldn't the world be a utopian society?

The only thing separating people who get deserted in the middle of nowhere from the scenario you describe and a "Lord of the Flies" type incident is one person who chooses to sow discord, doesn't go along to get along, and creates division. I'd like to read more about the people in your example because I'm betting they had to deal with such people at some point, and I doubt it was pretty.

This, if they were all getting along I guarantee opposition was dealt with immediately in the beginning.

That’s exactly what a person who chooses the moniker “Malice” would want you to think!

Pretty solid show. Great 90s nostalgic soundtrack. That plane crash scene was too real for me.

They put the first episode up a week ago. I was waiting all week for episode two but it isn't until next week. Seems like it is off to a good start, and we get some 90s nostalgia.

Michael Malice sounds like an idiot that didn't understand the Lord of the Flies.

It's an allegory for WWII. Ralph and Piggy and the conch are England and its propaganda machine, the blonde hunters are the Germans, etc, etc.
The Lord of the Flies is Beelzebub who they all are under the spell of.

This makes it sound woke, even if it isn't. What does they're being "wildly talented" have to do with anything?

The description I read said "alpha team of women soccer players."

Just finished the first episode and I'm really interested to see where this show goes in the next 9 episodes.

The costumes/cannibal scenes were creepy AF.

Does anyone else struggle to match the teenage and adult characters when they keep switching back and forth? I had IMDB open while watching the first episode so I could match character names and actresses

ETA: Any guesses who the girl is in the beginning, who falls in the trap? She's wearing Jackie's necklace, but I have a feeling it's not her.

Didn't one of them give her a necklace and a valium when they took off on the plane? I need to rewatch as the names haven't set in with me yet either.

Yes, Jackie gave the necklace to her bff Shauna (who was banging Jackie's bf...and I guess eventually married him). But adult Shauna is heavily featured in the first episode, so she must have given the necklace to someone else because the dead girl is wearing it.
