Interesting. I haven’t seen it yet either but I’ll give it a shot now.

I enjoyed Scott in this movie.

I saw it recently and enjoyed it. Wasn’t great, but definitely wasn’t terrible.
Don’t understand why they didn’t do a big Quicksilver scene.

My gripe. How did she use the Phoenix force to kill Apocalypse if she didn't get the power until this movie?

Just not sure how Raven dies in this as she is in future episodes.

Lol. You’re a foxmen apologist.
This movie was bad, not the worst one, but bottom 3 of FoX-Men
So glad Marvel got the rights back. Now we can finally see a great X-Men (team) film.

It was shite, my wife loves all Xmen movies and she took a shite on this one

Watched this last night.
This was nearly as terrible as The Last Stand. Just a bad film overall. From Turner's bad performance, to the absolute mangling of everything about the X-Men, just a total bust on all fronts. McAvoy and Fassbender were great as usual, but they had so little to do. The focus on Mystique as the core and everything around that, it ALL fell completely flat in the end. Why not just go with the Shi'ar? Dumb decision.
It's a good thing these films are over for the most part, outside of Mcavoy and Fassbender, I'm not sure there is anything I'd want to keep.
Why Fox can't get Cyclops (granted he was better than previous iterations, but still a bore overall), or any character outside of X/Magneto/Wolverine right, I'll never know.
Even Apocalypse had a few redeeming qualities, but not this one.

I enjoyed it just fine. I don't understand why there's so much hate for it.

No, I think defending TFA, TLJ excessively on here (I stand behind it to this day), GOT final season, and liking most video games people hate did that long ago.
Well, I guess knowing you have terrible taste is something....
Nah, no more than I'm sure you follow mine.

It wasn't a great movie but I was entertained for 2 hours.

Wrong and wrong. (And yeah it's more response to the everything since First Class around Mystique, not just this film).
The character they gave is not even close to the character from the books. Look, I don't often need exact replacements, but this one is so far off it doesn't make any sense. And i actually like that they TRIED to make it resonate with her appearance and how that makes it more tangible why mutants have social issues, but they abandoned that in an earlier film, and she became "ok" with it, sort of. So then they go this sacrifice route and it just doesn't work.
It was a poor attempt at making something new.
Additionally, yes she was a motivation, but it's not that she was, did it have any emotional impact in the film or make the ending better? No it didn't.

Finally watched it. I have had kinder opinions on the X-Men movies than most, but I didn't really care for this one. It was kind of ok, but really forgettable. Needs Wolverine. X-Men without Wolverine is like Lucky Charms without the marshmallows.
And now Quicksilver scene set to a cool song of the period? Stupid. They were set up for it and nothing. Dumb.

Eh? Most are well liked, and deserve it.
X2 is a top tier superhero movie, like Superman, Batman, Spider-Man 2 and Avengers/Infinity War. First Class and Logan are right behind it. Heck, Deadpool probably is too. X1, DoFP and The Wolverine are all solid. The only big problems are The Last Stand And to a lesser extent, Apocalypse and now this one.
I actually have a soft spot for Origins. Don't get me wrong, it's a bad movie, but it gets some little things right that makes it work well. And Jackman is still good in it.
The big problems are less the films, they are typically good quality, but the stories and narrative choices. X-Men were THE thing in the 80s-90s, so there's a bit of nostalgia for the generation that usually frequents this board and out of all the new crops of films, the Foxmen series has become one of the worst in being responsible with the past.

Some people just prefer the Xfilms as bad as they are.
Because of late 80s early 90s it defines what Marvel comics is to many many people...despite it not actually being the case.
Many X-fans became generally defensive when Marvel Studios surpassed the FoX-Men films in quality. They were mad at the lack of merchandise, even though the movies did not market themselves to sell said merchandise (“yellow spandex”, ironically used later) while Avengers merchandise is everywhere.
“Where are my favorite characters?”
In the comics, as thing cycle through, The Avengers rose back to prominence, in large part thanks to Bendis. X-fans developed the canonical “Mutant Persecution Complex” in real life. Marvel was burying them(false) despite putting Bendis on the book.
Now X-Men have the great Hickman on the book, the leading voice throughout Marvel for 10 years, it’s been good stuff. He’s defined the Fantastic Four, The Avengers, Illuminati, etc.
Rightfully so, the X-Men will have their place in the MCU after the remaining Avengers OGs hang it up. It will follow the history of the company. And then the cycle will repeat itself.
