At least Deadpool had a decent Cyclops.

Oh ok, but I thought the wolverine was filmed after first class. Why would they make a movie that is going to take place in a time line that they already knowvthey're doing away with. And LOL at the Deadpool metaverse.

Because Wolverine was self-contained and they really didn't have a firm plan in place for the reset. That's why the post-credits teaser doesn't really match up 100% with Days of Future Past (Charles and Magneto asking for Wolverine's help in a non-post-apocalyptic world).

I loved the movie. Phoenix made me have goose bumps at the end.

Finally saw it. It was alright

Lol at the weapon x facility scene. Was nothing but filler. Served no purpose at all

Could have fleshed out Apocalypse, psylocke, and angel with that wasted thirty minutes

Phoenix scene at the end had me nerding out.

I think the weapon x part was for the Mr sinister story.

I also liked they put in Metallica - Four Horseman on while Angel was being transformed.

Nah, it was to make sure Singer had his wolverine porn in the movie.

They didn't need to rehash a 30min wolverine/xmen escape from alkali lake to connect sinister in that way. The scene was completely disconnected from the main story

If they wanted to introduce sinister, they should have used that time to show Apocalypse meeting with Nathanial Essex. Would have given them more time to flesh out Apocalypse.

That's how it is in the comics. But instead they go in a completely different direction that is nothing but filler.

You're the vast minority on this one. Most folks see the Wolverine scene as one of the high points of the film.

Yikes

Who would be surprised the majority of movie goers enjoy flash over substance?

Isn't Major Stryker a mutant right now? I dont' read or know the comics, but does he ever get mutant powers?

In DoFP, the taser/DNA thing he put on Mystique was taken out of her and put on him by Magneto, and then the teaser at the end showed his eyes go "mystique". At the time, i figured Mystique was portraying Stryker to get and save Wolverine, but she obviously wasn't after seeing this movie.

Also, apocalypse claims he can't control minds? And that's why he wants to merge with prof X? What the hell was all that missile stuff, then? He controlled prof X through Magneto's mind? That's not mind control

He didn't use magneto. Charles connected to Apocalypse when he was looking at the other mutants in the room with magneto.

To the other point: Why use the market when you can vertically integrate

Apocalypse was too powerful and they need to do less is more when it comes to destruction. It comes to a point where there is so much that it loses its impact (Transformers 4). And why the hell did they make no effort to age the main three after 3 decades? Jennifer Lawrence is only like 5 years older than some of the kids. Speaking of them, I enjoyed the younger cast and wish the movie focused exclusively on them.

Bummer

quote:

While X-Men: Apocalypse is performing well overseas (mostly thanks to an impressive debut in China), things are looking pretty bleak in North America, and the statistics are a real embarrassment for Fox.
X-Men: Apocalypse meanwhile fell to #2 domestically with $22.3 million, a massive 66% drop which is just slightly lower than X-Men: The Last Stand's 67% fall a decade ago during the same weekend. With a current haul of $116.5 million, analysts now believe that the Bryan Singer helmed release will conclude its run with $165 million, a paltry amount just 5% better than the first X-Men in 2000 and less than Batman v Superman's opening weekend and what Deadpool made during its first five days.

Things are looking good overseas though, as X-Men: Apocalypse beat the Turtles this weekend with $84.4 million, a big chunk of which came from a solid $59 million debut in China. Now, the movie has racked up a foreign total of $286 million and passed $400 million worldwide. Chances are it will conclude its run with $650 million in total, a good result, but less than the studio wanted.

The biggest issue here is how the movie so badly underperformed domestically, and that will no doubt lead to Fox rethinking their approach to the franchise moving forward. What that will entail obviously remains to be seen, but be sure to let us know what you watched this weekend in the usual place.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with the direction in the film.

So you're too dense to realize that he didn't just direct for this film?

Bar was set too high trying to follow DoFP and Deadpool. Those two movies are the best superhero movies made so far.

You're the one making the accusation, so you need to prove why his direction was bad. I could go on a massive rant on why Snyder should be fired.

I wouldn't disagree. I've disliked him since watchmen.
