How about Alfred Begins? The long journey Alfred makes that leads him to becoming the Wayne Family butler. His adventures in the British army and how they shape him into the mentor he will become.
The last shot of the movie could be his first day at Wayne Manor and meeting Bruce as a child.

That could definitely work, but I'm not sure how well it will do at the box office.

mini-series would be perfect for this.
Get HBO or Showtime to back it and do a 3-6 part series. Hour long episodes.
DVD sales to fanboys would make it all worthwhile.

"The Destroyer of Worlds"
In a future after the dismantling of nuclear weapons and the colonization of space, a super-volcanic eruption triggers massive famine fueling a world war as countries gobble each other up over the remaining resources. Civil Wars, coups, revolutions, conquests, and the egos of those that drive them plunge the world and its colonies into chaos.

I've got a few ideas:
A mid level corporate executive in his mid life crisis finds a dead body and assumes his identity.
A young boy loses his father to the Mexican drug cartel and loses his will to live.
In the days leading up to the Kennedy assassination, the owners of a small Italian restaurant attempt to thwart the plan.
I also really want to write a screenplay loosely based in the Prohibition era, but I just don't know enough about it yet.
