I've actually been cultivating a Singularity idea that stemmed from another project of mine (one that ended up getting too close to the Deus Ex storyline, so I scrapped it). That's one I am working on, so I won't post here.
So what are the general trends you are getting from your Singularity idea, not the plot, just more how your version of the Singularity environment would be? I've just really come to the conclusion that it can't be live action in order to do it effectively. People would turn into whatever they want to and there would be some weird and down right horrifying things within. Most of the characters are of some outrageous hybrid of animal, truly horrifying beyond measure, or elvish for many of them. Also is your Singularity going to be highly layered like the web is?
And I too am having a hard time avoiding a Deus Ex Machina for the first and third film concepts. Second one I think I've pretty much got down what needs to happen, and the vast majority of the first is good but the end since I'm not sure how I'll get to the second one from that point. Third I've more got ideas and the final scenes in mind, but there's still a slight Deus Ex Machina involved in that one.

You're going about this all wrong. You need to have a completed story in the first one. You can't end it in a cliffhanger.
Take any trilogy outside of LOTR and the first movie is a complete movie. Star Wars, they win. Matrix, the movie is finished.
Do that first. Then find a way to connect the second to the first film.
Reason for all this is: you don't know if the second will ever get greenlit. The first must sell. To do that, you need a full movie, otherwise, people will not like it.
Don't ask me why they won't like it, but they won't. They will go to the internets and bitch about how the movie had no ending. Word of mouth will spread, critics will attack it, etc.

Thanks for the advice.
The bad thing is I know I have to introduce the Dragon in the second film and he is merely implied in the first. I think I've come up with a hell of a Dragon that the hero wouldn't really stand a chance against in the first installment. I've got the guy below him all planned out, but he's not nearly as intimidating or as powerful. I'll try to ignore the later two from this point for the most part.

It's close to yours. I'll be short and you'll probably understand it once you read it:
The singularity is Hell. End of Days.

An up-and-coming artist from a bourgeoisie family buys paintings from a homeless artist and passes them off as his own.

I had this whole 3-part storyline of technologically enhanced humans, computer viruses and the singularity. But it just all seemed too close to other stories.

Nice. maybe a good short story.

I'm more interested in how it truly effects world order and the way we perceive the world in general, to where almost all of my story takes place within the Singularity. The cyborgs don't attack the religious people because they're religious, but more because they are terrorists (or rebels depending on your point of view) seeking to destroy the Singularity which has effectively destroyed religion by its mere concept. I think that people that think religion is a thing of the past are very wrong if the Singularity comes to pass. Actually that analogy isn't correct, for as much as I like Ray Kurzweil, the Singularity is already this man's religion. Religion is merely a belief in a higher power. I think that the Singularity will damage Christianity pretty instantly, since I believe that many are just Christians for their fear of hell. And ironically, they're basically going to a bad purgatory in my outline so far.

Came up with that idea in a film class several years ago. Have always wanted to make a short film of it.

A full length movie about the guy in my avatar, Jay Reatard, would be 45 kinds of awesome.

Garden Party - Hated Matriarch of a prominent family is murdered at a monthly family gathering. Everybody is a suspect.
Would be a comedy.
Also a short I wrote for a play writing course:
Nigel at the River Styx - Pompous British man refuses to accept he is dead.

Title: The Last Column
It's about the last editor of the last newspaper on the planet. Takes place in a small town, fighting back increased technological advances. Not for religious or crazy reasons. Just because.
I wrote this short story years ago and always wanted to go back to it, but never got around to it.

In the days immediately following the fall of Berlin, American OSS agents scramble to nab German scientists before the Russians.
A short story I wrote years ago about on of the scientists led to expanding the idea.

I honestly don't want it to be an over-the-top comedy. I find that my "sober" friends are more obsessed with alcohol than my alcoholic friends. They've traded one addiction for another. It's not healthy -- they are still addicted to alcohol, only without drinking it now. It truly disturbs me, their relationship to alcohol now.
