Depending on how you write the lead, this could be really really good for a short story or film.

Simply reading and thinking about the thread gave me enough ideas that I didn't post, to run with. I hope it did the same for others.

Just thinking out loud, I think you'd have the guy going through his final day and throughout the day, you see flashbacks to various points in his career. One point is when he first started on the show. Another is when the show takes off and he has a chance to grab other offers along the way and his regret/thankfulness that he made the choice that he did. Another would be his relationship with the host and how he can either be jealous of him or be thankful. Maybe the host and the sidekick started out as friends but grew apart.

It'd sort of be told in a similar style as "For the Love of the Game."

starring Peter North

with Jake Gyllenhaal as himself

That's actually another good one, easy to envision too. Someone could have a lot of fun with it.

Not single sentence, but screw it.

Sole survivor of a massive holocaust falls in love with a woman he later finds to be barren. The world at large expects him to find a new wife to continue the bloodline of his long and proud people. Years later when he has kids with another woman, said power who started the genocide rises once more, and the barren former lover is an FBI/CIA/whatever agent that is tasked in personally protecting him and his family. She eventually makes the ultimate sacrifice and saves them all.

I was thinking about this thread today. Thanks for bumping it. In my travels this summer I thought about my ideas more and came up with a new one.
