Clark is a badass
But looks like they went woke and made him black?

Yes, they went woke and made him black.
It obviously had nothing to do with Michael B. Jordan, a major movie star, producing the movie because he wanted to play this specific role. It's all "they" and it's all "woke."

Makes sense that he liked the story and wanted to do it.
But being an Irish Catholic is central to John Clark's character.

All Tom Clancy characters are Irish Catholics names John.

Christ in heaven no. Been waiting for an adaptation of this book for decades, and Hollywood does what it does.
Butchers it. Just watching the trailer tells me it is not going to be the book I love. No matter the skin color of the actor portraying Clark. This guy doesn't have the presence to play Clark.

Robby Jackson is black.
But he wasn't in the Ryanverse back then - Jack Ryan was in college and hadn't met any of the other characters yet.

I'm seeing some rumblings on the internet that this version of the character is in the same universe as John Krasinski's Jack Ryan.

Does anyone have the balls to actually make Rainbow Six?

This is why modern movies are so bad.
They have no fidelity to their characters.

Which made Jim Greer a fricking Muslim

So this crap is the same as Frank Herbert's son ruining Dune?

I don’t give a crap that he’s black. But why take a beloved novel and make a show that seems to have nothing in common with the novel except the title. I just don’t get it. That novel would translate well on film but it looks like we will never get it.

Aloha Snack Bar Jim Greer marks a low point for Clancy adaptations.
The previous milestone of shame was making the terrorists in Sum of All Fears white supremacists.

Saw the TV spot for it the other night and wanted to cry.

When you change 90% of a story you are supposedly making a film adaption of, then just be honest and say you wanted the name recognition to draw more people into your movie, yet you have no desire to actually adapt the book you are using

From the clips/write ups this looks nothing like Without Remorse and my interest level is close to zero
It may be worth watching as an action series I guess, but I'm guessing it'll have little to no appeal to folks who want to see Clancy books come to life in any meaningful way

Until I read a little bit deeper into it and found out MBJ likes Tom Clancy I was worried about the woke. I'm more worried about the violence aspect. As it's written, it is one of the more brutal books out there. Does MBJ have the stomach to do the hyperbaric chamber scene.

The scene with the young girl at the amusement park and Johnson's retaliation would be an all timer if done correctly.
