"Winds" won't come out until after the first volume of his House Targaryen history, "Fire & Blood," is published.

And when will "Fire & Blood" arrive? Martin said only, "The first volume should be completed soon.

Ungrateful as frick. What have you contributed to the world that entitles you to condemn the creativity and artistic license of a man who had already contributed so much ?
So you havent gotten entertained on your timeline. Cry a little.

Yeah, nah. If people call you the "American Tolkein" (lol) then you need to finish your shite.

Ummm, I've paid him quite a bit of money... so yeah I expect a finished product when I invest in things. You don't invest in something just to be caught with your dick in your hand because fatty is pizza crawling his way to an early grave.

The man hasn't put out a novel in 20 fricking years that is worth a shite. Every body always says "My goodness the TV show went downhill after S4." Well no shite. Feast of Crows and Dance with Dragons are shite books. Can you imagine the outline he gave D&D? They have done above and beyond what fat boy could ever think of doing.

I haven’t read the novels but holy shite man....he’s just being fricking lazy at this point.

If it’s taken him this long to write Winds then he will never finish The last
And write a bunch of other shite. That's the most annoying part. He even has an extra year because of the show's delay, and he still won't publish it.

frick him. Just don't buy his shite anymore. It used to be kind of fun to ridicule his slow pace, but now I just think he's an a-hole. Fat, ugly women tend to be. And apparently, he now uses this as a means of pushing his other work, trying to make it popular enough to justify yet another show, I suppose.

Im sure he's been offered all the help in the world too. He's got to be the most stubborn man in the world.

I'm betting he dies and they find everything complete and ready for publishing. It feels like the type of shite he would pull.

He knows the ending. He has had the ending planned since he started writing the first novel in the 90's. He doesn't know how to get there. He is supposed to have told the show runners how the ending is supposed to be, so at the very least we will know how it is all supposed to end with the show.

I would have rather a history of Valyria with a climax of the Doom at the end of it about a million times more than a history of the Targaryens after they took over Westeros

Neil Gaiman offered to help him finish and he turned it down

If anyone else would have procrastinated, he or she would’ve been fired by now. Hell, most jobs have deadlines and all of us would be fired from our jobs if we moved at Fat Man’s pace. His publishers need to drop him.

People need to wake up and realize this idiot is an overrated writer. He's stuck. It's pretty damn obvious.

He will only write on a single DOS computer in one room in his house in New Mexico.

He does not write a single thing anywhere else, and he travels constantly.

The responses in this thread have me hopeful that people are finally catching on to what’s going on. If you can’t finish a story, you don’t have a story. He’s a great dramatic writer with shock value to provide entertainment. He’s not a storyteller. There are so many better writers out there in this genre. I will give Martin one thing. He brings eyeball to Fantasy. I’m thankful for that. Maybe one day I can pray we run down the line long enough that we get an Erikson miniseries/movie centered around Deadhouse Gates and the Chain of Dogs/Coltaine.

It's kind of karma for for him, since he said LOST was one of the shittiest ending ever when he hadn't remotely delivered his. If I were Damon and Carlton and GoT ending is disappointing, I'd tar and feather the fat bastard. They wrote 121 episodes in 6 years, but this tub of lard has yet to write one book in that time.
