Will we have a lengthy Aegon the conqueror flashback during house of the Dragon?

Title says it all. What do you think? The book readers really wouldn't even have any insight on this one.

I think the show runners definitely want to put as much of that era of the story on film if they're allowed.

Why not? The conquest is pretty well written out.

I don’t think they’d do much in a flashback because they’ll probably want to make that show eventually.

Fire and Blood covers roughly 140ish years of history, not just the Dance of the Dragons. Aegon’s Conquest is the first and arguably most important part of it

Just milk the franchise for spin-offs:

House of the Dragon: Aegon's Conquest

House of the Dragon: Blackfyre Rebellions

I think the Dance of Dragons was a great place for them to start, though. Audiences are already familiar enough with the dynasty that they can casually reference the Conquest and people know what they are talking about. The civil war has more action and battles. The Conquest was a pretty one-sided affair with only Dorne offering any real sustained resistance although their form of resistance probably wouldn't make for very exciting TV.

I know the book readers will already know the story, they just wouldn't have any idea if the current show would take screen time to depart from the current story to look back in time.

It just feels like to me that they're setting it up to show aegon the conqueror and those dragons in a significant way during this show.

I agree. Honestly they should have just started at the conquest and worked their way forward making time jumps between episodes/seasons as necessary.

It doesn't matter because they didn't do it but i said it numerous times last season that that's where I thought they should have started. They were doing major time jumps anyway. It was my favorite/most interesting part of the book. Book readers would definitely had some insight seeing as it went into detail with the conquest about as deeply as it did the parts the show is currently covering.

See, I think they made the right choice skipping to the Dance. For the first GOT spin-off it was the right choice considering the story and the action.

I hope we can see the Conquest portrayed if only as a limited-run series but the payoff just wasn't there for it to be the best starting point.

The first part of the conquest was a knife through butter but the Dorn portion could make for some really intriguing TV. I would think they would time jump from the conquest to the failure of Aenys (the conqueror's heir) into the Maegor era.

The Arc of Maegor the cruel is made for TV.

Now, the Jaeharys I reign would be kind of boring but with time jumps they could make it an interesting season or 2.

House of the Dragon: Aegon's Conquest

Just needs to be a short story type situation. For those who are watching the current HOTD, Vhagar was the smallest of Aegon the Conqueror's three dragons and they weren't going against any other dragons. It was a pretty quick conquering situation as a result.

Daemon Blackfyre would be a fun one to see on screen.

Yeah, if you're trying to build a solid following of spin-offs this was the way to go.

I do look forward to Dunk and Egg though.

If they do three or four series before the conquest, it might make the arse whipping a more engaging story.

With one exception, basically he came, he saw, he conquered. As a stand-alone there isn’t much drama. But if we’ve already seen OG game of thrones, house of the dragon, black fire rebellion, roberts rebellion, and dunk and egg, we know what the conquest show is leading to.
