I thought it would be awful, but I found it somewhat likeable

That's still ten years of stink, six if you count Lego Movie, and i don't since he wasn't funny in it.

FIFY. The Campaign is actually really funny. There’s nothing beyond 2012 that I was like “oh yeah! That was funny as hell”. A lot over the last 5 years especially is really bad. It’s really sad to see.

Daddy’s Home was good
Also, I enjoyed Eurovision.

The Campaign was 2012, and that is one of my favorite movies.
"you gotta book of bad ideas"
"no i got a book of good ideas, first page, you get my son to call you daddy......turn the page....i frick your wife!"
Get Hard was 2015, as was Daddy's Home, and those were good.
Holmes and Watson was terrible. I actually turned it off after about 30 minutes.

I saw the preview and it reminded me of "Blades of Glory"
How off base am I on that?

Eurovision wasn’t that funny, but it had some parts. It was much more of a RomCom and I thought it was a solid flick. The Husavik song was an absolute banger, but you have to enjoy that type of music which I don’t think many here do.

That’s actually a really good reference. I made the same comment when we watched it this weekend.
Honestly we enjoyed it. It’s absurd as expected but the music is actually really impressive, the scenery of both Iceland and Scotland is great, and we just loved the whole idea of Eurovision. If we can ever travel again we are going to the actual event for sure
Ferrell is fine in this but honestly not what makes the movie, although he is the main character. It’s not a “Ferrell” movie, although it probably tries to be in spots to its detriment.
McAdams is really really good, Brosnan is awesome, and Dan Stevens (Matthew from Downton Abbey) is outstanding and kind of steals the show imo.
The whole Icelandic council was great too.
Had they tried a little bit straighter approach rather than some of Ferrell’s schtick when it wasn’t really needed this could have been even better honestly.
I understand that some feel it was overdone at 2 full hours, and yeah I’m sure they could have cut 10-20 minutes and not lost much, but we personally just loved the world they were showing and enjoyed every minute of it

We didn't make it past the "trying hats on" scene in the first five minutes. We were out.

Yeah the Pitch Perfect/Blades blend is a perfect description
It’s a singing competition movie for sure and they even have a party mash up scene which was actually pretty fun imo although obviously some people just aren’t going to enjoy that type of cheese.
