Because it was mainly childish potty humor and couldn't maintain a consistent audience as it's loyal fans grew up.

They were ahead of the whole cultural appropriation curve for sure...

In Living Color for the win............

In Living Color was funnier than any sketch comedy show. I always enjoyed Mad TV though.
Posted on 1/11/18 at 12:31 pm to TigersHuskers
Because it was edgier and less PC than SNL
Posted on 1/11/18 at 12:37 pm to TigersHuskers
It sucked and nobody watched it?

Blind Kung Fu master was funny as shite
Posted on 1/11/18 at 12:48 pm to TigersHuskers
Because they savaged Oprah while SNL was putting out endearing tribute parodies of Oprah.

At the end it was not good and SNL was killing it in 2009.

Bill Hader
Darrell Hammond
Seth Meyers
Amy Poehler (final episode: December 13, 2008)
Andy Samberg
Jason Sudeikis
Kenan Thompson
Kristen Wiig
+ Tina Fey as Palin

meanwhile MAD TV had been reduced to
Repertory cast members
Crista Flanagan
Keegan-Michael Key
Bobby Lee
Arden Myrin
Nicole Parker (last episode: March 28, 2009)
Johnny Sanchez
Featured cast members
Erica Ash
Matt Braunger
Eric Price
Lauren Pritchard

That's essentially two people in Keegan-Michael Key and Bobby Lee that the average person today would know the name of and Bobby Lee is kind of pushing it.

Mad TV from start to finish was a poor mans Saturday Night Live.
While Mad TV does have a few memorable characters and sketches, the funniest Mad TV sketch wouldn't even make the top 100 Saturday Night Live sketches of all time.

madtv always felt like the poor mans sketch comedy. nfl & nascar fans were probably the ones that thought madtv was funny.
if snl was Reese's Puffs, then madtv would have been...
