The dinosaurs from the first movie 30 years ago look amazing, but these dinosaurs look fake as hell. The movie overall looks cheap and the plot is dumb.

The Jurassic movies have gotten progressively worse since the first movie, which was a great movie.

There are a couple of YouTube videos that do a great job of explaining this.

Basically Directors are replacing pacing, framing, and perspective techniques and relying solely on SFX.

The first JP (one of the greatest movies ever) was less about dinosaurs and more about people reacting in the situations they were in. The last 3 movies are all about trying to cram in as many dinosaurs and effects as the possibly can

The original Jurrasic Park only had like 4 minutes total of CGI in the entire film. The only real cgi shots were the wide shots of the dinos early in the film, the running with dinos (which didn't look great) and the full T-Rex shots when he was walking.... That's it.

The overwhelming majority of the dinosaur scenes were Stan Winston practical animatronics... And they looked incredible.

The new one probably has 80+ minutes of dogshit CG effects overload.

It doesn’t help that the story is absolute shite either. I still say that little clone bitch is a mass murderer.

And if I recall correctly..Steven was worried about the shots looking fake, so the t-rex scene was staged as night so he could hide flaws?

The whole movie was shot during Covid in a Covid bubble.

I expect the new LOTR to be just the same

I recently watched the second Independence Day and man, I forgot how fricking awful that was. Same deal

Stan Winston is a legend and its too bad we dont have him around today.
And I watched the new Jurassic movie last night. It was horribly bad.

I feel like the CGI that was used in the original was still better than the CGI we saw in the recent movies.

VFX artists call out Marvel

Studios are putting too much pressure on VFX artists to produce too much in too short a time. The demands for more and more WOW while cutting costs are having an effect on the final product.

This is HIS OWN MOVIE!!

Waititi Taikes the Piss out of Thor: Love and Thunder’s VFX
By Rebecca Alter

The best thing about Marvel’s latest movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, is that writer-director Taika Waititi made the whole film be about the cosmic power and importance of love … and that the love he had at the time was Rita Ora. Ergo, Thor: Love and Thunder is a movie about the cosmic power and importance of Rita Ora. Conversely, one of the worst things about the movie is, as with so much Marvel output, the visuals. It’s a bad reputation for a franchise in a visual medium to have, particularly a franchise that is so reliant on visual effects and computer graphics, particularly particularly a franchise with massive budgets. But VFX artists who work on Marvel movies have been vocal about the grueling working conditions, unfair expectations, inadequate pay, and short deadlines placed upon them by the studio.

Nice to hear the original holds up over time, it really was a great movie, and if you saw it at the drive in as a kid good memories.

I still say the T. rex escaping scene is the greatest special effects scene in the history of film.

Probably a top 10 scene all time regardless of genre.

and it still holds up 100% and this 1993.

Yes, his style can be replicated..

No one can really match his innovation though.
