Look it wasn't perfect.

A few moments like Jon and Grey not squaring off made no sense I agree and that council meeting thing was weird and I didnt like it at all...the voting sequence was just...who gave them the power lol.

It did enough very right though

1. Jon GOT HIS frickING BALLS BACK.

2. Most main characters have a wrap up that makes sense.

3. While Bran isnt my choice..I think it's because the writers didnt push him enough, but him as leader does make perfect sense. No blood line after his reign. No one is more intelligent. Kind of an easy choice to me.

4. Melting the iron Throne was beautiful symbolism. I really liked that moment.

5. Jon is king beyond the wall..please try to tell me that isnt his true place.

There was more of course those are a few examples. Just because your ending didnt happen does not mean this one was bad. This ending wrapped it up well. Very enjoyable(and my happiness with 8 hasn't been huge so far).

I agree with just about all of that. Good analysis..... it was a good finale.

This ending was like an 80s NWA wrestling match where the match goes an hour and there is a disqualification at the end because someone got hit with a tennis racket. Classic non-ending that leaves alot of room for new matches.

Some of it was meh (Bran being elected), but Jon back with Ghost, his BFF Tormund, and the Wildlings who accepted him more than pretty much anyone until Lyanna Mormont is actually way more satisfying than I expected.

Maybe, I would have like to see Drogon looking for the one Targ left to fly him though.

On paper it’s fine, I guess. But it was so rushed and so little explanation was given that it just felt cheap. The stupid slapstick jokes with King Brann were just the cherry on top of a shite sundae.

The dialogue and shite acting was cringeworthy

You can tell the talent was not into the story they had to portray

Agree 100%

I have my issues but nothing that ruins the show for me.

My perfect ending for Jon:

Kill Dany. Commandeer Drogon. Kill Grey Worm and Unsullied and Dothraki (no way Grey Worm wouldn’t have just killed Jon upon finding out he killed Dany. He would have slaughtered him instead of imprisoning him)

Reveal himself to the true heir to the throne. Then make the choice to relinquish the throne to the lords to decide who rules. Thus, he ushers in a new way of ruling things (breaks the wheel) which honors Dany’s vision prior to her becoming corrupted by power.

Then Jon heads north to replace Mance Rayder as leader of the free folk. Only to find fresh body parts in a pattern implicating that the White Walkers are never truly defeated. While the political wheel was broken, the historical cycle continues uninterrupted.

Fin.

Now I would have liked that ending much more. And I could have done without the slapstick small council meeting. But overall I found that the various storylines had logical endings and that there were breadcrumbs leading down those paths from day 1.

Perfect? No.

Satisfying? Yes. The Starks won. The wheel was broken. The hero is where he wants to be.

I PROUDLY say that I absolutely get that excellent comparison.

I didn’t have any huge problems with it. I do think it’s funny they wanted Dany dead to “protect” Westeros. Now they have a Dothraki horde on the loose with nothing to do but rape and pillage in a new land...not to mention a damn dragon flying around aimlessly.

And a king with no army should control all that. Haha

Nobody. He can make all the little redhead wildlings his heart desires. They’ll know nothing though.

“They clubberin’, Tony, they clubberin’!”

Bran has dined in halls with kings and queens and dined in underground lairs on long pork and beans.

I would've like this better. After all Jon is half Targaryen.

Grey Worm and his army not slaughtering Jon upon finding out is a bit ridiculous.

It ended in a good place. The story wasn’t bad at all.

The only issue I have is this needed to go from A to B to C to D. The writers went from A to D because they’re ready to move on.

Still the one of the best shows ever.

I enjoyed the show and the entire series. Its easy to see why there is criticism though. The whole show was about peoples need to seize power and the ending just childishly assumes everyone will get along and there will be no war or conflict in the future because we vote on a king now.

I think every decision made in the ending could be/is a satisfying conclusion had the last few seasons (maybe an extra one)done a better job of getting us there.

I love the idea of Jon being the king beyond the wall instead of the seven kingdoms.

It really wasn't THAT bad. There were a few things that made no sense (like Jon going into exile) but outside of that was at least serviceable.
