Why do you think Christianity is attacked in tv shows/movies?

Every single time Christianity is mentioned in any show you can think of, it is always in a sarcastic, condescending manner... the worst possible stereotype is highlighted when "Christians" are portrayed on TV...why is that?

Because secular Jews run Hollywood and hate Christians/religious folk.

Also Jesus said, “if the world hates you, remember it hated me first.” Hollywood is a good representation of the world he speaks of.

Portraying Christianity as a farce is pretty spot on.

“The Boys” created a “Christian” character seemingly for the purpose of insulting the entire religion in one season of the show. That’s a notable one, but you’re being very disingenuous on purpose.

I'm really not trying to be...I think the obvious "Hollywood hates Christians" answer is too broad...just wanted to get some opinions on the matter.

You lunatics have an entire section of world history dedicated to enforcing stereotypes and persecution of anyone who may be different than you... Just be thankful that you get to believe your fiction while simultaneously complaining about drag queens or any movie that acknowledges black or gay people exist, and then cry because you're confused why nobody fricking likes you.

Part because it's easy - Christians are considered the regressive, anti-progress, backwards folks who want to keep everyone from having fun. That doesn't really hold up in the age of the new puritanical no-fun left, but nonetheless it sticks in popular culture.

Part because they genuinely dislike us - Same as above, just deeper and more substantive in the era of wokism - we're arguably the leading opposition to their sacred cows.

Part because they can and it's socially acceptable - in general Christians have been reluctant to significantly push back (or at least sustain the push back).

Those catholic priests and televangelists like Joel Osteen hurt the brand more than liberals joking about it.

We should be thankful that we "get to believe"? Okay...thank you for allowing that.

How about very recently in The Last of Us, the preacher is a bible thumping child rapist and cannibal.

I know it's in the game and part of the story of the world collapsing, but it is, nonetheless, a typical "the gentle preacher is evil" trope.

I appreciate the non-Christians in this thread following their script...right on cue with the unprovoked anger...its strange, really. I guess the basic "love thy neighbor" principle is just too much for some folk?

How about a specific example/s for people to comment on?

As for any show, 7th Heaven aired in the last 30 years, wasn’t that overtly pro Christian? How about Little House on the Prairie? The Waltons? While I know there are some cases where religion, specifically Christianity is mocked, it seems to me the vast majority are neutral on the subject
