Why do people react to criticism as “b*tching”?

I was reading the last Jedi review thread and some people didn’t like it because of storyline, characterization of key players, etc.
To me, criticism = useful information for people on the fence (It helps people who have yet to see the movie make their decisions). For example, If I’m getting a home security system and a significant group previous customers voice their dissatisfactions, that’s information to me. Same with items on Amazon, restaurants on Yelp.
If someone said this movie sucks, sucks, sucks....yeah, that is bitching. But if a group of people say, the story doesn’t make sense because of xyz, that is legit criticism. I don’t think people went see the Last Jedi and go on here to bitch for attention.
But it seems like when some people read things that they don’t like or agree with, their reaction is “you’re just bitching”. Are skins really that thin? Are we, as consumers, suppose like everything that’s spoon fed to us?
Think of all the time and money you save from reading a bad review about products/Services. Companies pay big bucks to have panel reviews. Legit criticism is useful information. Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow.

You're not allowed to criticize Star Wars. That one movie 35 years ago was so good it made the entire franchise criticism proof.

Only a sexist or racist would criticize Star Wars.

Criticism is one thing, what we're seeing on this board however are grown men throwing tantrums because the movie isn't what THEY wanted. They argue the movie is objectively bad because it shatters their childish fanboy perception of the series.
Without citing specifics as this isn't a spoiler thread, I'll just say that most of the examples they use to say the movie is bad are things for which they can provide no reason other than they didn't like it.

This is exactly how I see it, too.

And yet the prequels are nearly universally panned. I myself did not care for them at all.
This movie is being well received by all but the fanboys who are upset Disney didn't follow the novelizations and Luke didn't single handidly kill everyone in the galaxy.

It took about 10 years for people to admit the prequels were bad. People made excuses to defend them and explain why they were good at the time. The reactions to these new movies is similar.

Accurate. This movie has flaws sure but so does every Star Wars movie with Empire having the least.

Except thats not whats happening at all.
I am all for taking things in new directions. I don't want to keep rehashing the old movies. But when you take it in a new direction and it falls flat for fundamental movie making reasons then you're in for legitimate criticism and that's whats happening here.
TLJ isn't as bad as the prequels but it does have some of those kind of issues in it, it just does. If you enjoyed it anyway then that's great but that doesn't mean those issues aren't there.

RT audience score for Episode 3 is 65% It's 64% for TLJ

That’s not true. The movie has its good parts and it’s bad parts, and it’s WTF parts, but it didn’t even line up with The Force Awakens, much less the Original Trilogy. Were you happy with the answers to the questions that they left you with after The Force Awakens? If so, then you’re easier to please than me. I liked The Force Awakens and Rogue One. I did not like this as it seemed to cut its own nose to spite its face.

This.
I too like Rogue One and The Force Awakens was a solid movie seemingly setting up the franchise to be great. It may make Disney all the money they want but The Last Jedi fell quite a bit short. I left wanting/trying to talk myself into saying it was good to everyone texting me but their were to many holes in it for me -- it wasn't all bad and it had its great moments just seemed they plugged parts in just to have them in the movie.

Well that’s not true at all. There is a lot of valid criticism out there by a ton of different segments of fans. A good bit of them that haven’t even picked up a book. You are fanboying in the can do no wrong side.
