I mean Hawaii sounds nice and all but to have a rent controlled apartment on the upper west side of Manhattan has to be about as sweet as it gets for a postal worker.

I always wondered how some of these people could possibly afford to live in Manhattan.

Well Jerry was pretty successful as was Elaine, with Kramer it was kind of part of the joke with him and George spent like 2 seasons living with his parents back in Queens

Because the air is so humid he wouldn't have to lick the stamps. Plus it's closer to his side gig as a dino embryo smuggler

it was the 90's
rent control
fictional tv show

George was paying $2300/month for his place which is an absolute bargain for a 1BR apt on the UWS

On a side note I wish bob sacamono was my TD name

He's one of those guys who is always doing side jobs and shite. He always just made it work

He was paid for:
Being in paintings
Selling his life stories
The Beach Cologne
His coffee table book

It would be fun to list all this shite

I honestly didn't mean just on Seinfeld. I meant on all the NYC based shows.

on HIMYM, Ted was an low level architect and Marshal was in Law School. 2 Bedroom place on the UWS.

Friends: Joey Tribiani never had a job, but Chandler had a good one.

Rachel works on a coffee house (although that apartment is explained in an episode). Monica was a line cook that eventually made executive chef (but never seemed to work).

And they lived in two bedroom apartments in Greenwich Village.

The frick.

Well he was in real estate at the beginning of the show and had the Yankees gig towards the end. I'm sure that paid pretty well.

"Kramer goes to a fantasy camp. His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down two-thousand dollars to live like him for a week. Do nothing, fall arse-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors, and have sex without dating. *That's* a fantasy camp!"

Yeah, George was pretty resentful of Kramer during most of the show.

You need to stop making your mailman lick your stamps for you .

Yes, I said that the apartment was explained. But even if it was rent controlled, it would still be beyond what a line cook and a barista would be likely to afford.

And while Joey was Dr Drake for awhile, he was also out of work, a lot. So Chandler had to be paying almost all of the bills while he worked late on the weenus.

I always kind of assumed that was the case since Monica got all hot and bothered when she saw his savings account just before their wedding.
