8 episodes of 1hour plus TV on a distant location just takes time. That's basically like shooting 4 films. We shot for over 125 days (not counting weekends, travel or holidays). There were also weather delays, a few sick days etc. And Boat Work? With safety concerns, conditions and general logistics of getting to and on a boat .... ?
You need months to plan, dress and build the sets. You don't just show up at these hotels and roll camera. Plus, almost all of the interior villas were on stage in Bangkok .... large builds that take 10-12 weeks. That Buddha on the island? Custom sculpted and finished piece from our department that took 6-8 weeks to perfect. All of it seems simple, but with a crew of over 75 in a country that is a bit chaotic at times is not easy.
all of the B-Roll monkey shots, water shots ... all that was a 2nd Unit team that had nothing to do with the main unit and actors.
24 was made like 20 years ago and shot in LA when everything was made there ...... with likely 4 top camera units running simultaneously and a wide open checkbook from Fox. Different times and purse strings.

I never bought in to ricks “you ruined my life” story of woe. I get it from a dramatic sense but his unstable nature never really made sense relative to what we were shown. And since he wound up being the protagonist of the tragic outcome it just didn’t land. They could have and should have written some scenes where Rick is shown to be dangerous (just like they did with Tim) but all we ever got was sullen and cranky or bumbling and disjointed. Never dangerous
great season otherwise I enjoyed it very much

in season 1 the death was a tragic accident that was well earned but still surprising. In season 2 the death(s) were more slapstick comedy but still shocking. The deaths this season were telegraphed from a mile away and that’s too bad

Matter of fact, he went to the dudes house and showed that he in fact was NOT dangerous. He had the opportunity to kill the guy and didn't even punch him.
I'll say again that I loved the journey but the ending was just OK.

This doesn't bother me that much since the guy didn't say too much during the attack at his home but later before Rick went off, he called his mom a drunk and a slut. The part that bothered me more than that was when Scott Glenn said that shite about his mom when he could have told him the truth about being his father or at least said he had everything wrong and would explain it to him after lunch instead of antagonizing Rick more.

Watched Sunday but just now able to get on TD to express my thoughts. Will read the thread here at some point. hate that I missed the discussion.
Tim's story line throughout was my least favorite by far and the finale definitely didn't do anything to change my mind there. He's just an idiot. I feel like they should have had Lochlan die from the shake. Something bad other than a casual financial ruin reveal on the boat should have happened to him. Pops pills and thinks of suicide for episodes on in and just leaves poison out in a blender for anyone in his family to take. Someone should have died due to his stupidity. I don't claim to be a better writer than Mike White, but having the one family member that would be ok living with no money die would have been a incredibly tragic and great twist.
I've never predicted who was going to be the one to die but when Chelsea saw Rick on the beach and ran up and jumped in his arms and then when they talked and he had made peace with his situation, I knew that at least Chelsea was dying and probably Rick too. It's the White Lotus, that was going to be waaaaay too much of a happy ending for WL.
Of all the endings I think Gaitok's was probably the best. Called him a crappy security guard (which he was) and was being a giant puss (which he was) but it was a very realistic and legitimate internal/spiritual struggle he was having. Being Buddhist and wanting peace and to not harm anyone is an honorable thing, but you picked the wrong job for that. That struggle of pulling the trigger was a great scene. It was only a few seconds long but you felt his struggle in those few seconds. He gave up his morals but it got him a promotion and out of the friend zone with the hotty Mook
I was ok with the cougars ending. Not an ideal trip but their friendship survived and I'm happy with that. A lot of good acting on their part. They played their roles perfectly.
I definitely don't hate Belinda as much as most on here do. I like the fact that see basically became a mini version of Tonya. Tonya dangled a fruit in front of her and got her hopes up and then shut it down/left her hanging and disappointed. She essentially did the same thing to Pornstar. Got his hopes up and let him down. Thought that was a nice touch.
I think I need to let it marinate a little more but I don't know where I'd rank it among the seasons so far. Season 1 would be hard to top. People on here seem to hate her but I freaking loved Tonya so I still really liked season 2. Season two's ending was just about perfect. Season 3 for sure was the location imo and for sure the resort I'd want to go to if I could pick one. Props to you and your team, you created a visually stunning season of TV.

You’re so fricking brilliant you should invent a way to do it faster

Kind of off topic, but has anyone else followed the drama around Goggins and Wood? I saw a few clips of Goggins talking about Wood in an awkwardly intimate way, to the point that my first thought was that they clearly slept together (He's married). Now they're allegedly feuding. Most of the press I've seen about this season portrays the cast as incredibly close, this is the first thing I've seen suggesting otherwise.

I would imagine that this is pretty freaking common on long projects on location. So much intimacy and together time in the vacuum of the location probably creates all sorts of opportunities for bad decisions. I would think that most "Hollywood" couples know that it goes with the territory from time to time... not that it makes it any less awkward when they return to the real world.
You see this shite constantly at trade shows and conventions and such, and those only last for a weekend. Being on location for 3-6 months... yeah... recipe for relationship problems both on location and with those back at home.

I agree, and totally get it. Stuck on location, probably with lots of free time, etc. What struck me as odd was how Goggins talked about it in interviews. He seems like a really grounded person and the way he talked about Wood and their relationship just seemed really creepy.
