X-men (2000)
X-Men is still the best superhero movie out there.

Daredevil hands down. Beautifully put together accompanied with a great showing by Affleck while he was hitting his stride...
the success of Spiderman actually screwed up Daredevil b/c the studio then started to demand it be lighter in tone, started cutting out the violence, and forced in a happier Electra love story.

I'm not sure how it could be Blade when Batman and Robin came out the year before and was monetarily more successful.
B/c B&R was so monumentally awful it damn near killed the comic book movie genre.

X men really started it off making a few hundred million. That movie made executives feel comfortable putting money behind comic book themed films.
Two years later spider man makes $821,708,551. Blade didn't make as close to an impact. The significance in comparison on the film industry..is basically the same refelection as with the comic book industry.
What means more to comic book collectors, and has more overall importance in the comic world? x men or blade?

It's gotta be X-Men, as that's the first movie from Marvel Studios after it reorganized. X-Men was the first real attempt by Marvel to profit off of its comic characters at the box office. And really, it was because the technology finally allowed you to do it. Before, comic movies just weren't feasible because of the special effects. You could do super strength (and let's face it, poor flight), but that's about it. X-Men showed A) these characters were valuable and there was a built in market for them and B) we had the technology to make the film look good.
Blade is sort of a proto comic film, but it was pitched as a vampire film more than anything. And they weren't banking on the superhero part of it. X-Men ushered in the era of superheroes replacing action heroes. Blade is a middle ground between the two.

X-Men
it didn't have a large budget. that should tell you everything about the place of the "comic book movie" when it came out
