Both great great movies not a thread about that.

Which movie has less of an actual plot though? Fast Times is almost like a bunch of different short stories about high school kids smashed together into one movie.

The Big Lebowski has a general story, the dude trying to get payment for his ruined rug, but I mean they barely pay attention to the actual story.

I say Fast Times has less of a plot, nothing happens, Stacy gets an abortion but there really isn’t fallback from it, no character really evolves or changes much, and there is no end, they just kind of are still in high school.

Oh and thanks for reading

The rug isn’t really the plot. Sure the rug begins it all and gets him roped in. But IMO the plot is much more about the fake kidnapping and what happened to the money and the Dude’s “investigation” of it all.

Fast Times. Without Phoebe's swimming pool scene, that movie sucks. The Big Lebowski is one of the greatest comedies ever made.

Just watched Fast Times for the first time the other day and was amazed at the lack of plot. Then we watched some of American Graffiti and were surprised to immediately find another movie with maybe even less of a plot

And Spicoli and Mr Hand have a dynamic relationship that evolves into a sudden moment of mutual respect.

It’s a thread about the plot two movies that are 20+ years old, if you don’t want spoilers don’t come in

This is true, Mr. Hand might have the biggest character development arch of anyone!

I would say the Big Lebowski has a plot, it’s kind of a funny twist on the mystery/detective genre. It begins with the Dude trying to get compensation for the rug and they kind of stumble upon a bigger mystery and they use the clues they find to solve it.

Definitely Fast Times. Not that it’s a bad thing.

Dazed and Confused is an all time favorite and has essentially no plot.

There have been tons of movies about some nerdy dude trying to get laid. Rat going after Stacy.

So it has a plot tons of other movies have used.

But yeah Crowe wrote the book for the purpose of detailing, showing, high lighting the shite that was going on at high schools...he actually went all 21 Jumpmstreet undercover reporter for this story.

It's just supposed to be a snapshot in the life of high school kids over a year.

American Graffiti as mentioned is even less, a snapshot in the lives of some teenagers and townies over one night.

Fast Times and American Graffiti are the movie versions of a painter's "Still Life" work.

It's a slice of life piece that depicts a short period of time that has memorable stuff going on.

Not every movie has to have a huge plot.

Some movies are just to show/remind/bring on feelings of nostalgia for a beloved time in history.

And Phoebe Cates' tits are Olympic Goddess perfect.

FT@RH isn't supposed to HAVE a plot. It's a comedic look at HS during a period of time which was probably the last amazing period this country may ever see.

Did Ferris Bueller have a ' plot '? Not really. Some movies don't NEED to have a thing happen. it's just a bunch of stuff.

And Breakfast Club really didn't either but all three of those movies are great.

“As if we’d ever dream of taking your bullshite money”,

That line by Walter is the greatest funniest of the movie and the plot. Those three silly Pollacks never even opened the briefcase to see if there was any money in it. “The Big Lebowski” is the greatest movie and the anthem of generation X shite birds. It’s like our anthem. Yes The Dude, Walter, and Donny were technically Baby Boomers but 1998 belongs to Gen X.

Frick fast times those two movies aren’t worthy of being spoken in the same lifetime.

Maybe, but that rug really tied it all together, did it not?
