Need to elevate Robert Powell to the Good category. I always thought he was outstanding.

Have you see the new season?
It's Roumie's best. He brought it.
I think Caviezel & Roumie's passion for their roles are due to their faith.
I give Caviezel the edge due to the language. It just doesn't hit the same in English.

Robert Powell from Jesus of Nazareth. This is who comes to my mind when I think of our Lord and Savior. In my opinion, his performance cannot be beat and should be elevated to the outstanding category.

This. Roumie is knocking it out of the park thus far.

Jim C played the role best.
One that wasn’t mentioned was Jeremy Sisto from the Jesus movie in 2000 maybe?

The Passion shows us a Jesus who is willing to suffer for his people.
The Chosen shows us a Jesus who is kind, caring, funny, and a teacher.
Either one of these would be who I rate the best.

The problem with portraying Jesus is that it’s hard to depict him in a realistic manner that doesn’t come off as cheesy. And he has no character arch which makes it even twice as hard. But if I had to pick one, Caviezel probably did the best job. All of the other actors are way too over-the-top with their performances and it doesn’t help that most of them have to deal with terrible writing.
Gibson is the only director in the world who could make a religious film be a universal hit among secular audiences. Sure, the writing in The Passion was nothing spectacular, but the music and cinematography was phenomenal. Those two things elevated Caviezel’s performance to a huge extent.

Gibson got brutalized by most everyone for Passion when it was released only years after did people both Christian and secular come to appreciate the phenomenon work that was The Passion of the Christ.
What you just described is Dallas Jenkins. Director of the Chosen.
Jenkins and Roumie are the only two who IMO got it right with Jesus’ full humanity. Yes it’s speculation that Jesus had a personality like Roumies portrayal However, Jesus was fully God and fully Man and to suggest that he would not have a human personality robs Jesus of the very purpose of his coming it us as a man. My faith tells me Jesus would have been very much like he is portrayed in the Chosen, not to take anything away for how he was portrayed during he passion in by Jim Caviezel. I think both actors spent mich time in prayer and reflection before undertaking these mission to feel comfortable saying they had Divine inspiration in their work. And if you hear them talk of their experiences, there was also demonic opposition to their efforts as well. But that’s another topic altogether.

These two men stand out above the others. They both portrayed Jesus in a very similar manner. If I had to pick one of them, I'f give the slight edge to Powell.

Caviezel's portrayal of Christs passion IMO cannot be surpassed.
Caviezel's initials JC; he was 33 years old during the filming of Passion; strange things and unknown extras appeared on set dressed in white that nobody could account for; some crew converted during filming, some left.
There's been nothing else like it.
quote:
While filming Mel Gibson’s film THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST Caviezel was struck by lighting on “the last shot of the film,” he told Fox News Digital.
The strike led to two heart surgeries, one being an open heart surgery, and “lot’s of medication.”
