Where do you rate Mel Gibson as an actor?

He's top tier director. I enjoy him as any actor, but his true gift is clearly behind the camera.

One of the best. Can play anyone/anything. Hit movie each decade he’s been acting. If he makes a movie, I’m watching it

Not bad, better director than actor.

Mel is in my top tier list. When I see one of his flicks, I see Martin Riggs, Benjamin Martin, Bret Maverick and not Mel Gibson for a few hours.

For me, Mel is up there with Denzel Washington. With the both of them, almost everything they do is memorable.

Mel was never the Daniel Day Lewis over-the-top method sort, but he could command any scene he was in with just a look. He has presence, a quality severely lacking in modern male actors.

Absolute charisma machine. Gibson is the very definition of the modern blockbuster movie star.

The Denzel cimaprison is very apt. Both can sleepwalk a part and steal any movie they're in.

Gibson could also act quote well.

Agree with all of the above. He bounced back. Although he did make/star in a few stinkers very recently. Say what you want about the man, but dammit he knows story structure.

Agreed and I think that is the ultimate compliment to an actor. Guy sucks you in to whatever character he is playing whether it’s William Wallace, Riggs, or Maverick. At the end of the day he is going to command the screen no matter who else is standing next to him. Harrison Ford esque in that regard.

The guy is just so damn good at film making. If there is a better raw movie than apocalypto in the 2000s I’m not sure I’ve seen it.

How much more would we have seen from him if the Jews didn’t blackball him?
