Disagree that GoT was super captivating or entertaining 3 episodes in (which is the comparison right now).

GOT's first episode was pretty amazing. Particularly with the deserters encountering white walkers right out of the gate. So I have to disagree.

I'm not a WoT book reader. I've watched just Episode 1 so far. I've enjoyed it but there's something "missing" from this show for me so far. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

What's the non book reader general consensus on the show? Yay or nay?

I think reading the book has made me over critical. 1st episode was a solid episode but I just didn't care for it bc it's so different than the book.

People like you are why we have such mediocrity to deal with.

Here’s the deal. We have a book thread. Post in that.

Stop ruining the show for others. It’s not a word for word reproduction. We get it.

Now kindly stfu and let others enjoy.

Point me to where I’ve spoiled any book details? I haven’t. I’ve just pointed out that it’s a terrible show, book reader or not. It’s not my fault you can’t handle that.

book readers arent getting the point at all and just continue molesting this thread.
I think changing the title from no book spoilers to hodors only or no book talk would make the point a bit better.

Here’s the thing many aren’t understanding.

It isn’t just about changes from the book.

I’m telling you it’s a bad tv series because of its production value, it’s setting, it’s acting, and it’s score.

It’s also poorly edited. None of that has to do with differences in the book.

It looks like a slightly better version of a fantasy show I would’ve watched in the 90s/early 2000s.

I don’t understand where the budget went.

And I totally disagree. The pilot was a bit rough. Episodes 2 and 3 were much better.

If you didn’t like it, don’t watch anymore.

Which actor’s performances are you not enjoying?

Ive got a good bit of cons but acting was the one thing that stood out to me as pretty solid. Curious to hear who people didnt like out of the main cast.

I liked it enough that I'll keep watching. I read the first half of the first book like 5-6 years ago and we're already past what I remember happening.

I agree that most book readers have been overly critical. It's decent, but probably not ten million dollars an episode decent.

This red headed bitch is our main character? Two episodes in he should get his nose broken so maybe he will stop pouting for awhile.

You don't remember that?
It was two guys running from the red cloak witches and then one completely disappeared?

That magic didn't take long at all.
Meanwhile summoning a lightning bolt took a dance.

Just not understanding the magic is all.

Maybe it was because 5 red cloak witches do shite quicker.. I dunno.

Non book reader here. And im enjoying.. just waiting for later episodes to explain a bit more.

That wasn't magic. That was Logain losing his mind.

I binged the first three episodes this morning. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it, either. Madeleine Madden who plays Egwene is a poor actress. Her reaction to the trollocs was comical. I don't have a big beef with the other actors (it was strange seeing Michael McElhatton /Roose Bolton as a nice guy) or the production values but it's clearly a cheap knockoff of LOTR.

Glad to hear a non-book reader's perspective and that you like it. There's a whole lot of awesome shite that is yet to be explained. As a book reader (I read the first 7 and quit on 8), I am loving it and can't wait to see things revealed that I know are coming.

Being a non-book reader I have no clue what may be coming up but often action/adventure/fantasy movies and series build up to something in the "third act". That often sees a lot of the production costs wrapped up in a short part of the filming, that may be the case here. If you think about a 2 hour movie with a 80 million dollar budget, exclusive of any big name actor salaries, you normally don't see a proportional amount of production expense in the first 30 minutes or so.

Again, I don't know the source material or the scope of the first season but it may have a battle of the Pelennor Fields or the Battle of Winterfell type thing that eats up a ton of money.
