I can rewatch it anytime. I still quote it. No guilty pleasure about it.

Only flaw to me is this is back when they were trying to make Lori Petty a viable romantic lead.

Agree, but to have a female surfer lead she had to be a little grungy. Plus her parents died right / messed her up somewhat. But didn’t seem the type that Utah would fall for.

Great movie.
The parachute scene is absurd in both how long it takes and the fact they would never hear each other over the wind, but that doesn't really make the movie less awesome. Just turn the critical thinking part of your brain off, like when watching Independence Day.

the early-mid 90s Lori Petty pop was very strange.

This was the second major motion picture she was in during that run in the early 90s where she kept showing up:
Cadillac Man
Point Break
A League of Their Own
Free Willy
In The Army Now (when Pauly Shore was a box office draw)
Then she was in Tank Girl, then her prospects pretty much disappeared.
I think Point Break might be the only one where she was pitched as a romantic interest.

It might be the "famous factor" but I was totally down with her as a hot surfer chick. She's fit, has the kind of athletic body I'm all about, and killer blue eyes. And she was fierce and probably one hell of a roll in the hay.

No, it's brilliant. Why would anyone suspect a washed up college QB would be an undercover fed?

This movie was the perfect cultural bridge between the 80's and the 90's. a generational masterpiece.

One of the great clips of this classic...

Director Kathryn Bigelow also did Zero Dark Thirty, another great flick

seattle was having moment so they found the actress that most looks like the lesbian college town coffee shop owner
It really stands out cause everyone else in the crew is a cali stereotype. Why didn't they just go hippie surfer chick
Like bridget Fonda in jackie brown but throw some tats on her

It was also an important part of the plot. It's the reason the bad guy gets away the first time. Imagine if our hero simply hurt his knee randomly during the foot chase. That would be lame. But he had the back story of the devastating knee injury in football.
