What’s the most moving original score in cinema history in your opinion

To me, it’s hard to go against “Outlawed Tunes on Outlawed Pipes” from Braveheart. Man I love that movie so much. Watch it every time it’s on and at least once every 3 months or so.

“Sayin goodbye in their own way”

This piece inspires awe in me.

Eta: and Mel Gibson will forever be one of the most underrated directors in cinema history.

Way too many to choose from. But my initial response would be Last of the Mohicans.

I can still remember seeing that iconic scene for the first time.

It gets some hate but Titanic has a really good one with that angelic voice as the sunken ship comes into view.

Gladiator is probably tops for me.

As an overall score and it's impact on the movie, I'd say interstellar.

The docking scene in Interstellar is perfectly scored

I may have been wrong in my wording of the title, I’m thinking of most moving one piece of original music (ie not Forrest Gump, while amazing soundtrack) in cinema history. Like one scene’s music if that makes sense.

Ending them from Shawshank Redemption hits you right in the feels. From despair to hope as it moves through.

Last of the Mohicans is a good one but to me the final scene of Excalibur is the greatest. I get chills every time I watch it...

Mohicans, Inception, Platoon and ET have already been mentioned, so I'll just add this one:

No one has referenced LOTR “Ride of the Rohirrim” or “Bridge of Kazad Dun”

Finding Nemo too. Both by Thomas Newman and both emotional rollercoasters despite the thematic gulf between the two flicks. Hell, some of the movements are nearly interchangeable between them (Andy's escape vs "swim down", Red in Buxton vs inside the whale) which might turn away the snobby film critic, but for those of us with beating hearts he really knows how to land that perfect emotional pitch.
