Is it harmless, pedophilia normalization and a call to cancel my Netflix subscription, or somewhere in between?

Don’t plan on seeing it but it’s hard to reconcile the “oh, it’s ACSHUALLY criticizing the sexualization of gurls” reaction narrative with what I saw in the brief preview Netflix plays

It definitely missed the mark. I won't be ditching Netflix over it, but it certainly won't be played in my house.

Most attention this board has ever given to a French-language movie. Considering no one is actually going to watch it, and no one knows what's actually in it (I don't count scanning for 5 minutes as watching it), kinda weird how many wanna keep talking about it

Jeunet films get talked about all the time. Godard. Jean Reno. Bresson. Truffaut. The Tunnel. Etc. Don't be dense.

I bring up Cocteau's BatB in nearly every thread about the tale.

Haven't watched it, but based on the description by the creator, it's probably harmless. People love to get outraged by shite they don't understand on a whim, so I'm going to withold that judgement. I otherwise wouldn't have watched it, but I might check it out now

You're right that I was exaggerating. You're wrong to deny that we're giving a lot of attention to an unknown that none of us will likely see.

This movie is great, but it's not like people here are often engaging when you bring this up. And who here is talking about Truffaut and Bresson? Don't often see conversations about l'argent or day for night on the front page.

Don't remember who posted it, but I was definitely recommended Diary of a Country Priest by someone here. Great movie.
