I believe they are the same material.

No. Wolverine's claws are adamantium, Cap's shield is vibranium.

Mined from Wakanda? I'm a DC boy who really likes the Panther. Is one harder than the other? Aren't both indestructible?

Captain America's shield is a unique vibranium alloy. Attempts to recreate it led to the invention of adamantium. Caps's shield is stronger than mere adamantium or vibranium..

I know you're right about the shield being made of a vibranium alloy and why but I don't recall ever seeing anything about it being stronger than Wolverines adamantium. Nothing is.

Wolverine can't cut through Caps shield but Cap couldn't use the shield to break the claws, his bones or anything adamanium like that.

Comic writers just made it where they basically cancel each other out.

Adamantium can't be physically damaged. Vibranium has been destroyed multiple times as Cap's shield.

That said, Vibranium is a much cooler and useable material.

In Captain America 303, Dr Myron Maclain, the inventor of both, said that while adamantium came close, it still was not as strong as the unknown alloy that makes up Cap's shield .

The alloy unknown because he fell asleep while making it.

Here is a breakdown from the Marvel database.

quote:

Proto-Adamantium

This is the original Adamantium created by Dr. MacLain. Proto-Adamantium is the official name for the metal that makes up Captain America's Shield. It has never been recreated and is the absolutely most indestructible item in all of existence.

True Adamantium

Also known as Primary Adamantium, this is an attempt at the recreation of Proto-Adamantium. This is the Adamantium present in Wolverine. It is nearly as strong/durable, but unlike Proto Adamantium, Primary Adamantium ispossible to be reproduced. Only beings with Godlike powers (such as Rune King Thor) can manipulate Primary Adamantium. Otherwise, it is completely indestructible to all forms of attack. Being this strong, it is very rare and expensive to create/manipulate and is top secret in the US government, though it has shared it with some of their "allies". Once liquid Adamantium cools and hardens, it can never be manipulated again.

Secondary Adamantium

This is much easier to work with, making it much more cost effective though at the expense of its strength. Someone with superhuman strength (say the Hulk) can break it or warp it. Also referred to as Adamantium Steel. Any and all forms of Adamantium to have ever been broken or manipulated have been revealed (through retcon) to be Secondary Adamantium.

Beta Adamantium

Wolverine's skeleton was originally reinforced with true Adamantium. His mutant Healing Factor not only allowed him to survive the process, but it also induced a molecular change in the metal. Beta Adamantium functions like True Adamantium but does not inhibit the biological processes of bone. This fact only became apparent after Magneto forcibly extracted the Adamantium from Wolverine's skeleton.

Quite an advanced theoretical thinker you have there. And props for exposing him to an environment where questions not able to be answered at home can be found.

He's a smart one. We watched CA: Winter Soldier tonight and as soon as he started reflecting bullets my son asked the question.

He also has the Marvel Lego games which has increased his knowledge of the universe.

He knew who Star Lord was before I did due to this.

So, what is Ultron?

(SPOILERS?)

I think at least some iterations are True Adamantium. And he uses a molecular rearranger or some such thing to move and function.

I'm so glad I prefaced that post of mine with the "I don't recall ever seeing" now. That would've hurt a lot worse if I had gone with my original draft with "You're wrong so shut your pukeface up"

That's got to be a proud dad nerd moment there.

My 3 year old daughter walks up to me the other day and says "Dad, can we watch Ghostbusters? I like Slimer. He eats hot dogs."

Swelled with pride. If I ever meet Bill Murray, I'm telling him that story.
