What recent movie will be considered a classic in 30 years?

It's overrated in my opinion (though still pretty good), but isn't Mad Max: Fury Road pretty much considered the modern classic of the last decade?

If I had to guess which one would be considered a classic, I'd choose that one.

(Edit: My personal choice would be Sicario.)

I would agree, especially for the action genre. The social network as well.

For better or worse, The Last Jedi should be considered.

Fury Road is at least an interesting example. It didn’t debut at number 1 (it was behind Pitch Perfect 2).

And it wasn’t really a box office success. It made $370 million against a $150 million budget. When you factor in theater take and advertising, I think WB barely broke even, if at all.

But people like me, who watched it in the theater and really enjoyed it, told our friends that it was the best action movie in a generation.

It’s probably the most recent example of movie ‘s reputations being based solely on word-of-mouth.

And it created A LOT of sizzle at the Oscars when it took home 6 awards. (By the 6th Oscar, I was sure George Miller was about to win Best Director.)

Ummm, no it shouldn’t. That was the iceberg hitting the greatest franchise of all time.

Probably 1917...though not my tempo...but it has that timeless cinematography.

Definitely Whiplash.

But if we're going back that far then definitely The Other Guys.

But that's already a comedy classic.

Bad times at the El Royale?

Or is it too niche?

That movie is pretty fun but I don’t think it’ll rise to a classic movie level

If I had to pick one out of all of them, then the Social Network. Someday I’ll show it to my kids gathered around a bonfire when they ask me “Where did everything start to go wrong” as I power the projector with a workout bike.

Because each generation of film has only one movie considered classic?

Hot take

The original Transformers with Shia will get shite on, but for what it was, it was great. He’s an extremely likable actor, and I mean Megan Fox leaning over the car... Bernie Mac, Jon Voight, Anthony Anderson.

Top notch special effects too.

I do think Transformers 1 (2007) was a pretty solid, switch-off-your-brain action flick. (Every non-Bumblebee (2018) sequel has sucked.)

But

The character designs for the Transformers sucked. It was the worst part of the movie.
