As I grew older, I’ve realized how truly shitty those books are and how much Paolini didn’t even try to hide the blatant fantasy ripe offs. Didn’t bother finishing the last book.

Those books do not deserve another movie.

*The Disney Trilogy
*Serenity (because frick filling off Wash).
*The ID2 sequel... with Will Smith back and no Liam.

I don’t care if they’re tropey. The world works, the characters are solid, the one movie version was complete crap, and we have a serious dearth of fantasy movies at the box office.

There are better fantasy books out there to adapt that Paolini’s tripe.

Then adapt them too. This doesn’t have to be an either/or thing.

Dune
The Hobbit
All of the Star Wars films except A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Rogue One, and Solo
Twister

The Hobbit would probably be my top choice.

Haven't watched it yet, but apparently there are some fan cuts of the three Hobbit movies into one film that are pretty legit.

The movies added a lot of crap, but they got a lot of the little things and many of the critical scenes right. So it could be edited down.

Ender's Game
Ready Player One
Land of the Lost
Tarzan (The Legend of Tarzan was close but still made him a bit of a pussy when it came to facing Kerchak)

I don't have a specific film in mind, but generally I'd love to see some of the scifi from the 60s-70s get remade. HBO did a fantastic job taking the West World movie and expanding it to 10 episodes with modern special effects and production value. I'm sure there are some great stories from that era that were held back by the effects of the time and could be really great if remade today.

GI Joe (not the cartoon). I had such high hopes for it but it was just an abomination of a movie.

Had this conversation last night. We were reminiscing about how much we liked the last starfighter growing up and I wondered why nobody had come up with a sequel for it.
We then all watched the movie and laughed that maybe a remake would be proper.

Loved the movie. Special effects were special. Could be a good remake that leads to other films.

Doc Savage It was a pretty bad movie of what could be a great series. I read these books as a kid and they were great adventures that would look awesome with current special effects and better casting (no. not the Rock!!)
