No Interview?

I was thinking this as well. Does it really count as a “Tom Cruise movie” though when he’s not actually the lead?

The closing scene when he steals the reporter’s car and pops in that cassette of the GnR Sympathy for the Devil cover.. is one of my favorite movie endings of all time. It’s perfect.

Almost 2 pages and no mention of "Valkyrie" based on the true story of Col. Klaus von Stauffenberg who was instrumental in trying to rid Germany of Hitler late in the war and negotiate with the Allies to bring an end to the war.

Damn, not going to lie I completely forgot about Jerry.

I think I’d still put Frank TJ Mackey ahead of it because it’s such a one of a kind role. Macguire could be Caffey if he washed out, so I think the unique type of role he plays in Magnolia gives it the nod for me.

Good call though

I love Valkyrie, tense as hell and he’s great in it imo, but I think I remember this board not loving it back when it came out.

Another one I don’t think is a top 4 character but is one of my personal favorite movies of his is Oblivion. Edge of Tomorrow is great and a lot of fun but Oblivion is my favorite out of all of the sci-fi he did in that run from Minority Report-WoW-EoT.

The haunting soundtrack and cinematography make it stand out imo.

As you may imagine, I'm not one of his great admirers, but I do enjoy this little film.

Very underrated "sports movie" that captures small town Pa. HS football beautifully.

This is a deceptively good topic. Many great movies. That said:

Tropic Thunder
Top Gun
Rain Man
Edge of Tomorrow

What's he going to be most remembered by:

Top Gun
Mission Impossible
Jerry Maguire
Risky Business

What are his actual best movies is a different matter altogether and just pure subjective taste.

Collateral
The firm

Looking at his IMDb, that has to be my favorite overall filmography for anyone.

Yesss. I remember thinking at the time it had some of the best visuals I had seen. Will have to revisit.

I think the best movies he's been in are probably:

Rain Man
Minority Report
The Color of Money
All the Right Moves

His most iconic movie roles IMO are:

Top Gun
Mission Impossible
A Few Good Men
Risky Business

I ended up leaving off Edge of Tomorrow and that is sad because it's a really good movie. And he's really as funny or funnier than any comedian in Tropic Thunder. Eyes Wide Shut is a well made movie as well. I just couldn't put it in his top four (although it probably would be ranked higher than at least "All the Right Moves" by most critics).
