growing up in the late 90s-2000s 1970 will always mean “30 years ago” to my dumb brain.

I get it. When I mention something to my sons from the 90's or 80's, I have to do the math in my head and think, "Ok...this is to them what a movie from 1950 would have been to me."

Yeah the Dazed and Confused example always breaks my brain

Dazed and confused is further away from today than the movies release date was away from the actual day the plot takes place

Right...when I played Back to the Future for my 13 year old, it had come out 22 years before he was born. Since I was born in 1970, that would have been a movie like Red River!

Makes no sense at all.

So many. Almost too many to pick one favorite.

The older I get the more "It's A Wonderful Life" turns me into a blubbering mess.

I don't think anything good really existed before 1980 for my taste. None of the movies or tv shows hold up when i try to watch.

Really? That is actually quite a strange thing to admit.

What about the classics?
Casa Blanca?
It’s a Wonderful Life?
On The Waterfront?

Westerns?
The Outlaw Jose Whales?
A Fist Full of Dollars?
The Searchers?

War movies?
Bridge Over the River Kwai?
The Great Escape?
The Dirty Dozen?

Religious Themes?
Ben Hur?
Moses?
A Man For Every Season?

Musicals?
Oklahoma?
Oliver?
Fiddler on the Roof?

MASH

The show came out in 1972, but I think it is close enough.
