These threads are dumb.
Instead of being about the worst box office movies, it devolves to "what generally liked movie can I shock people with?"
One idiot says Bagger Vance, there is a Lebowski mention, so on and so on.
Because those movies are worse than Monkeybone, Battlefield Earth, and such? Please. . .
Bagger Vance is fricking Citizen Kane next to a shitload of films.
I bet somebody reading this thread wants to say Citizen Kane, Shawshank, and Godfather. . .

Dad immediately quipped, "That's only because you didn't see Gods and Generals."
That dad is a piece of shite. I saw both Gettysburg and God's and Generals in theaters. I understand if they're not your cup of tea, but they are objectively good movies.
Debatable. Wikipedia says: "Review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes lists an 8% approval rating while Metacritic lists a 30% approval rating. Film critic Roger Ebert gave the film a negative review, awarding it 1.5 stars out of a maximum of 4.... Ebert had previously reviewed Gods and Generals' indirect predecessor, the 1993 film Gettysburg, and gave that film a favorable review."
I never saw it. Just repeating what the dad and others have said.
With lines like, "He has lost his left arm, and I have lost my right," and a nearly four hour run time, I probably never will see it.

Spider-Man 3 How has this not been mentioned yet?
First movie I thought of. Little late to the party, so:
frick Tobey, frick Dunst, frick Franco, frick Topher, and frick the Raimis.
BDH was hot as Gwen though.

Some stupid arse pos movie starring Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, and Woody Harrelson. I don't even remember the title, only that it was fricking awful, a dumb boring plot, and riddled with clumsy cliched dialogue. "Let's do this" was used like 5x.

Gods and Generals is a play with high production values.

It really was so bad. Great effects but one of the worst plots I've ever sat through. It was so linear and there was absolutely no depth to any character.

None of those you used to make your argument were mainstream films when released.

A Passage to India
It has a 7.4 rating on IMDB
It has an 85% approval rating on RT.
I don't care, I hate this film...it is the most god-awful worst thing.
The worst experience I ever had watching a film. Nothing happened. Ever. Sitting around drinking tea looking at the desert.
Way before the English Patient, there was this disaster.
Elaine cried about how slow and boring English Patient was?
Passage to India makes English Patient look like a JJ Abrams film...It makes Andy Warhol's film Sleep...seem interesting.
David Lean really screwed the pooch in accepting this awful novel for adaption.
