I really enjoy “Love Actually”. I know it gets a lot of hate, but I enjoy the sappy, sometimes implausible storylines. And Martine McCutcheon is super cute.

Who hates Love Actually?

Pretty sure it’s universally loved, atleast on this board

These two are not classics. Only if you’re a dumb chick or you’re 5 are those classics.

Ironically enough based on this comment I could reasonably assume you are the 5 year old

I think “Love Actually” is a little overrated, but it’s still a really solid movie that falls into the category of cheesy rom coms that men can also enjoy.

Die Hard

They said recent. That movie is 32 years old.

Most recent-

Polar Express. I’m not a fan, but I always make a point to ask my students what they are watching. Being Christmas, Polar Express is apparently popular with today’s utes.

Elf- it’s a fine movie. I’m not a Will Farrell guy, so I’ll likely never watch this on my own. But my millennial/z kids love it and so do Zoomers.

Christmas Vacation- an instant classic.

Christmas Story- not as instant, still required viewing.

Definitely Polar Express and Elf. My family members of all ages love Elf. I'd also include Four Christmases. Noelle from Disney may end up being a classic. I think Christmas Chronicles from Netflix could be as well. Those are both new ones that I'm guessing about. We just don't know yet.

Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story, while both classics, are not recent.

Christmas with the Kranks (2004) comes to mind. Although I definitely thought it was newer than that.

Their is a reason that TBS shows it back to back, all day Christmas.
Of course. But it wasn’t “instant” by any means. It was like the last 20 years that it became really popular.

But over the years its popularity grew, and 14 years after its release, it had become such a staple of holiday fare that TNT began running it in a continuous loop at Christmastime.

A Christmas Story is a perfect example that if you just saturate people's consumption enough, they'll start to like the over-saturated product.

It's a mediocre-bad movie that only has some sort of a reputation because of the above forced nostalgia (created by repetition).

Love Actually is a great movie. I wasn’t a fan of the creepy animation in The Polar Express. The Grinch wasn’t bad. It was light years better than the Jim Carrey version.

It’s a bunch of short stories from a bunch of hacks. It’s terrible.
