It feels like Disney really neutered the "What If..." ideas. these stories are boring as frick.

while Thanos victory wasn't necessarily an absolute.

The key difference is that Thanos' victory WAS absolute. What was not absolute was that it could be reversed later.

Strange in this episode seeks to prevent an event from occurring. In Infinity War and Endgame, Thanos obtaining all six stones and erasing half of all life was not prevented, it was reversed five years later.

Even when Stephen decides not to pick up Christine and leaves her at the conference, the building is destroyed by a bomb and she is killed.

Bruce Banner couldn't use the stones to bring back Natasha Romanoff.

That's a great point. I forget sometimes that Thanos did win and succeed in his plan. Endgame didnt go back in time to beat Thanos, they just stole the stones to reverse the effects of his winning.

One thing I didn't mention.

I do appreciate the fact that they let the villain win. After the lecture the Ancient One and Wong gave Strange, I was sure he was going to pull something out of his arse to win. Even though he should have been outmatched, by evil Strange who just absorbed like 1000 different demonic creatures. I'm glad this wasnt another cliche happily ever after.

Also, it was weird with The Watcher double-breaking the 4th wall by talking to us, then Strange, then us again.

Another thought from the episose. I'm going to go ahead and be that guy that everyone hates. One of the demons Strange transformed to while absorbing looked Mephisto-like imo.
What-if in the new Dr. Strange movie, Mephisto is the villain, but in actuality it's evil Strange, who somehow escaped his hell in a diamond cell.

He didn't win. He reached his goal and his reward was to be stuck alone in his own pocket universe forever.

No, he didn't win in the end, but he did defeat the "good guy".

Having more content is always good.

What makes up the content isn’t always good.

Morbid arse episode. He absolutely could have changed that Absolute Point but he would have needed to go further back. Or go to further extremes.

I enjoyed all 4 so far , but 4 was certainly the best. The mystery in episode 3 was too obvious, but otherwise a good one.

I think this episode was fantastic. Easily the best so far.
