I've only seen two 2011 releases so far. I wanted to go check out Drive today but didn't get around to it.

Moneyball
Best I've seen anyway. We have to wait until December to see what the Academy nominates.

So far, the highest score on the TulaneLSU movie reviews thread this year is a 9. The following movies have achieved that score:
The Fighter
The King's Speech
Rango
Thor
Midnight in Paris
Sarah's Key
In retrospect, I'd probably bump Thor down to a 7 and Rango down to an 8.
The most fun I had a movie theater this year was at Never Say Never.

Tree of life and midnight in paris. the rest of the year has been a whole bunch of crap in general (with a few exceptions, obviously)

Source Code but I still haven't watched Tree of Life

Drive...absolutely.
Loved it.
It felt like it took me to a time and place in the early 80's of movie watching. Something Super 8 tried to do but failed miserably.
It's a gem of a little film.

Neither are 2011 movies. Liked them both, though

Rango
Missed it.

Thor
Missed it . . . on purpose. Can't imagine watching it.

Midnight in Paris
A nice little trifle by Allen. I enjoyed it.

Sarah's Key
Missed it, but will watch it soon.
I'm not ready to declare anything "best" at this point. I did enjoy The Tree of Life, The Beginners and Another Earth.

I'd have to go with either Source Code or Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Pretty shitty year for films. Probably going with "Rise of the Planet of the Apes"
