Not a great movie, not sure it's a good movie, but it is depressing. Pretty good ethical question/scenario if one is into pretentiously intellectual discussions about ethical quandaries from time to time.

I was going to disagree with you and realized you are probably right and it was the Dennis Lehane novel that made the movie worthwhile. Without the book, the movie alone is just ok. I will say, like the book, it makes South Boston come to life.

That movie makes Trainspotting look like a lark. The last 15-20 minutes are just brutal
