2001: A Space Odyssey

A remake wouldn't work for obvious reasons.

I think a crappy remake of 12 Angry Men was done which was lame.
& I'd probably be devastated if Leon was remade

Dr. Strangelove. What actor today could play Peter Sellers roles?

The only one I would consider safe from a Hollywood remake is Triumph of the Will.

Anything by Kubrick or Malick.

Casablanca
Citizen Kane
To Kill a Mockingbird
Gone With the Wind
Chinatown
Apocalypse Now

As much as I like Jaws I don't think it would be as much of a stretch to attempt a remake. If it had the right cast and director it would have a chance.

Its seems remakes tend to cast actors that are to young for the roles. ex. Super Man Returns

CGI would completely frick up this movie. If the mechanical shark had worked properly in the first one, the movie wouldn't be nearly as good. The fact that you barely see the shark is what makes it great.

Ghostbusters.

The first cast was 100% perfect imo.

It would be impossible to remake a movie like Citizen Kane because the greatness of that movie has very little to do with the storyline or plot.

If someone remade Shawshank I'd go all Ninja Assassin on every person in Hollywood.
