Dick Hallorann needs his own series

SO turned to me during Chris Chalk’s last scene and was like “We need a Hallorann series but it’s gotta be Chalk playing him”. He was absolutely fantastic from reel to reel in this series.

Best show HBO has put out in a few years. Makes me want to go watch the movies/read the book.

I think I liked this Loser’s Club better than the original group

Yeah I didn’t have high hopes for this series but it was great. I enjoyed it more than the remakes from a couple years ago. The score added a lot to it and gave it that 80’s adventure/horror type vibe. The intro is one of the better intros I’ve seen too. Overall a really fun show with some solid scares but also didn’t take itself too seriously at times. Pennywise with the “so long, losers” had me cracking up.

Call it "Overlook". It could be about Halloran's arrival and early years at the hotel and cover things from the past and they could even go into the offseason where Grady was to watch the hotel. It could be really good.

I also noticed at the very end it had the Welcome to Derry sign like in the opening and it said Part 1 or Season 1 or something. Has it said that all season or have they just let us know it will continue for multiple seasons?

It has never said that before. But i think there was a fan theory that each season would revolve around one of the Derry tragedies. And this season the tragedy was the black hangout fire. I thought they confirmed it for 4 seasons. Would think there would be 5 based on that theory because in the credits, i think each letter of Derry has one of the tragedies pictured in it. I might be wrong about the images in the letters.

I will give it another shot. The first two episodes really lost me, but after rewatching Mad Men I am going to be in the wilderness

The last two episodes are great and the ending gives it some finality in case they don’t get renewed. To someone’s earlier point, how they handle time travel etc. really opens up the possibilities of where this show can go for future seasons. Pretty nifty loophole they’ve created and it doesn’t feel cheap if that makes sense.

I stopped watching after the scene with the girl and the elongated eyeballs. Is it worth picking it back up?

I said that the second it happened. Like really? A van is going to stop on a dime on ice?

IT being an outer world entity obviously helps making the logic more digestable.

And that's exactly what it is. The deadlights are a cosmic entity that I believe exists across a few of Kings novels.

I had no idea until now that it was the same person. It's been a while since I've watched the shining. Was he claivoyant in that movie/boook?

I found this on wikipedia while looking at a page on Hallorann's character...

Cancelled Hallorann film
Prior to the release of Doctor Sleep, Warner Bros. had enough confidence in the film that they hired Mike Flanagan to write a prequel focusing on the character, with the working title Hallorann. Following the low box office performance of Doctor Sleep, the project was scrapped.[18][19]

He was in the movie. He knew to come to help because he could communicate with the boy if I remember correctly

Damn it man that would’ve been awesome. I loved doctor sleep it’s a shame they didn’t do a better job letting people know it’s a sequel to the shining.

The finale was excellent. Muschetti did a great job he more than made up for chapter 2 being kind of shitty.

Just realized that the name of the episode—“Winter Fire”—is from the poem Ben Hanscomb wrote about Beverly Marsh:

Your hair is winter fire
January embers
My heart burns there too.

Well considering the time and the whole Black Spot event being the big murder spree for Pennywise…I think it’s pretty logical that race would be an undertone of some sort.
